After the two girls had run from the classroom, everybody sat in silence. "Can I go?" I asked Mr. Phillips. He glared at me but nodded. I grabbed my things and left. As I was walking home I heard a faint voice. I looked around to see if anybody was around, but nobody was. I heard coughing coming from around me, but there was no one in sight. "Hello?" I called out. I heard a groan and a quiet call for help. "who are you?" I yelled back.

"Evelyn," again a faint voice called. I followed the sound of her voice.

"Evelyn try and make some noise so I can find you," I heard a few things move, a groan, and then I heard a rock being rubbed against another. I followed the sound west. As I moved closer the sound got louder. I pushed back some grass and there was Evelyn with two rocks in her hands. I bent down next to her. "What happened?" I asked.

"I hit my head," She said, bluntly.

"I can see that," I stated, "how?"

"I was running then fell," After the few words spoken it went silent. After a minute or so I stood up and extended my hand for her to grab. She grabbed my hand and I helped her up. She stumbled into me.

"You're really clumsy aren't you?" I joked. Evelyn laughed slightly and shook her head as she did so.

"If there was a word that meant more than clumsy that would be the perfect word to describe me," Evelyn told me.

"I think the perfect word is clumsy but gracefully gorgeous," I spoke the truth.

"That was more than one word Gilbert," She teased. We laughed together. She had also hurt her leg when she had fallen so I put her arm around my shoulder and I held onto her waist to help balance her.

"Let's get you home," I smiled.

Gilbert stayed after he had brought me home. He actually helped me since nobody was home. I sat on the counter and he got me a bag with ice in it for my head, and another for my knee.

"You can go if you want," I told Gilbert after he had helped me.

"I'm not going to leave just in case you accidentally fall and hurt yourself again," He assured me.

"So, tell me who exactly is Gilbert Blythe," I said to Gilbert. Gilbert looked at me for a second, thinking about his words.

"Gilbert Blythe is a boy with no mother and a sick father. Most people do pity him, but he doesn't have to be pitied. It truly is sad that he might become an orphan. He'll be turning 16 soon so hopefully, his father will make until then. Gilbert is actually quite good at school. He wants to be a doctor," Gilbert told me, "and there's so much more you don't know about me but you'll have to wait and find out,"

"I'm so sorry about your parents," I said, "and no that isn't pity. Also, you're pretty interesting Mr. Gilbert Blythe,"

"Really?" He asked.

"Definitely,"

"So what about you Evelyn Harris?" He started, "what's your story,"

I sighed, "we moved to Avonlea because my father cheated on my mother. My mother tries to make it seem like she wanted a change, but really she wanted to flee the town that she fell in love with my father with. I really like flowers, oh and the rain. Rain is my favorite thing,"

"Next time it rains I'm coming to get you and we're going to play in it," Gilbert said.

"That would be fun," I replied.

"Sorry about your father and mother," He continued.

"No pity," I said in a blank tone.

"No pity," Gilbert smiled, "is your head feeling better?"

"Yeah, the room isn't spinning anymore," I answered. Gilbert chuckled. The sound of his laugh made me feel better all itself. His laugh is silly and contagious. I laughed slightly too.

"Well I better get going," Gilbert said and stood up. My heart sank. I looked at him with big eyes, and I think he knew I didn't want him to go. "Do you want me to stay?" He whispered as he stared into my eyes. He was really close now. Since I was sat on the counter my eyes were at the same level of his. I can see the specks of beautiful honey dotted around his brown eyes. I can see the rays of sunshine sparking inside of them.

"Can you?" I answered in a quiet voice.

"I could talk to you for hours," He smiled. He jumped up and sat on the counter next to me.

"Can we go to my room actually?" I asked, "I would like to lay down,"

"Of course," Gilbert said immediately hopping off the counter and extending his hand for me to take it. "My lady," He said in a deep voice. I giggled and grabbed his hand. Gilbert helped me off the counter, and then I showed him upstairs to my room.

I laid on my bed as Gilbert wandered around my room looking at everything. "You know most rooms show a persons personality but roses?" Gilbert questioned.

"Roses are my favorite flower," I said.

"They're pretty but dark. I don't think you're dark," Gilbert scratched the back of neck as he stared at the flowers in confusion.

"I think they actually represent me well," I started, "look beautiful and quiet at first sight but once you touch them they fight back and if your not careful they will prick you," Gilbert stared at me.

"I know now the perfect way to describe you, Evelyn," He said, "you're a beautiful red rose,"
