C'Anne flew up and through the trees above Ansel's house. She needed to find a charm caster. The only place she knew that had a spell caster was from Terith. She had to get back to the portal she came through so she could get home and grab her things. Once she was through the portal, she found Leah fast asleep on the couch. C'Anne frowned as she seen her best friends tear stained cheeks. C'Anne walked to her room trying to think of a way to bring Leah with her. Leah always tried to talk sense into her but maybe this time she could go for some fun. C'Anne opened her closet and pulled out a large suitcase she started to throw in her entire winter wardrobe. She glanced down at her current outfit and sighed. She had worn a small skirt and white tank top to Ansel's world. If she had been human she would have caught pneumonia. She zipped up the suitcase and went to Leah's Room to get her things packed as well. While C'Anne gathered Leah's clothes she decided to call Leah's boyfriend. He was a spell caster and would surely give her the hook up. He answered on the second ring, "Is Leah okay?" He asked roughly. C'Anne smiled and reassured him that she was fine then began to give him the run through of her latest plan. He agreed but she had to have Leah back in his arms before the first snow fall. C'Anne huffed but didn't argue. He agreed to bring her a set full of Lapine charms and a few kits so she could make them herself. C'Anne satisfied with the outcome of the conversation hung up and went to wake Leah. She didn't stir at first but after a few shakes her sapphire green eyes popped open. Leah rolled her eyes shut and smiled. "You startled me C'Anne." She rolled over as if preparing to go back to sleep. C'Anne tugged at her hair and moved to the end of the couch resting on the arm. "We're going to see Ansel for awhile." C'Anne said quietly. Leah was already shaking her head. "No, no, no, we're not going to see Ansel. You're going to stay here and leave that mutt alone." Leah ground the words out harshly. Never in C'Annes 170 years of life had Leah lashed out against her. "Where did that come from?" C'Anne asked slumping into the couch. Leah sighed and hugged a pillow closely to her chest. "That mutt is going to get my wings ripped away." Leah sobbed the sentence into her pillow. C'Anne stood and crossed her arms. She was fuming. Her anger was directed only at Leah. "That is absurd. Who spoke of this? When? why?" C'Anne had a voice of power. If Luc's words could stun someone then C'Annes could crack marble. "Your father came this morning." Leah blubbered . C'Anne sat in silence as her best friend told her the mornings events. C'Anne wasn't one bit surprised. "He's bluffing. He doesn't have that kind of authority. Our wings are our very being Leah, don't let him get to you." C'Anne shrugged it off, but Leah was angry that C'Anne was missing the bigger picture. "You're an idiot C'Anne. Name one time back when were little that I had my own wings." C'Anne was baffled. "You can't possibly think that far back. I only remember the bumble berries." Leah hissed at C'Anne throwing the pillow at her. "My wings are borrowed. A lot like our friendship." Leah spat the words with true hate. C'Anne stumbled as if her words had shoved her back. C'Anne slanted her eyes at Leah, her anger was beyond out of control. "The only person that can give and take away wings are me. It's one of my gifts." C'Anne spoke slowly drawing out every word. Leah sat stiffly clutching the pillow tighter. "I don't remember such a power from a bastardized Fae Guardian." Replied Leah. C'Anne fluttered over to Leah and grabbed the upper blade of her wings. With her eyes black as night she ripped Leah's wing right off her back. Leah sat there stunned, staring at her wing. "If your wings are false why do you care so deeply for them?" C'Anne reached for her other wing and teared it off with ease. Tossing them to the floor C'Anne went to her room and grabbed a piece of red and black thread. Once she returned to the living room, she gaped at Leah who was cradling the makeshift wings. "You know those wings were gifts to the brownies? Let's get you a real pair." Leah stared in disbelief. "There's no way that you could grant such a gift." C'Anne ignored the hurt that swallowed her heart. "Don't worry, you're going to be the only one to get them. They're a parting gift." She fluttered over to Leah and ran her fingers down the outer edges of her back before weaving the tread through her flesh. With a flick of her wrist a set of wings matching the color of the thread blossomed out of her back. "You'll have to give them a few days to gain color, but they're there and ready to go." C'Anne stood and went to her room to gather her things. Leah sat staring at her wings through a hand mirror. "You're released from captivity, you are no longer needed of service. Leave your keys on the counter and your wings are you final pay. They're a red and black. Goodbye Leah." Before C'Anne could slip through the portal Leah gasped and screeched at her. "You gave me the colors of disdain?!? I didn't even ask for the wings! They should be blue, you gave them to me!!" Giant tears rolled from her eyes as she stomped on the ground tugging at her wings. "You shouldn't have complained with my family's work." C'Anne disappeared with the last word. Once she was through the portal she smiled and flew her way back down to Ansel's house. He was just coming out of the house when she fluttered down and sat on the hood of his truck. They had a lot of catching up to do.
