"How long have you been mates?" One of his pack mates asked, another shouted from the back. "Where've you been hiding that one?" He chuckled and couldn't manage to answer fast enough. "Why did you wait so long to bring her around?" Ansel smiled and sighed before giving them an explanation. He stared at the ground with his hands in his pockets grinning proudly. He wished this could last forever. He wished that C'Anne would let him keep her forever. Looking over his pack mates faces his eyes landed on Penelope. He felt a pang of guilt rush around his heart. He should've told her there was someone else. "C'Anne found me when I was young, we were separated for a very long time and I missed her every day. So when I felt an unusual tug on my heart I knew it was her. I am very glad that she found her way back to me, and I hope that you accept her into the pack with open arms. She's my sun, my moon, and my sea." He paused to take a breath, and glanced over to the patio doors. C'Anne and his father were sitting on a bench having a very heated conversation. He smirked only imagining the words that were playing out between the two. "She gets me through the worst without even really realizing it." A sob from the back ruined his moment. He already knew who it was from so he did his best not to look directly at her. She pushed her way through the crowd and blubbered nonsense all the way. "You were supposed to love me." Penelope sputtered. Ansel could feel his wolf pushing forward, growing at her with disdain. " I was supposed to be your sun and your moon and your sea!" She wailed. Everyone in the room was watching her have a tantrum and breakdown all in one. "Penelope calm down." He didn't try very hard to keep her from crying. He was trying not to yell at her. She was making a full out of both them. The party guests hung on her every word. "I waited, and waited for you to wake up and realize it was me the whole time. That it was me who would love you most, but you never even gave me the time of day!" Ansel turned and walked away from her. He found sanctuary at the bar. He didn't have to explain himself to her. She was probably drunk and wouldn't remember half of the evening by tomorrow morning. Ansel planned on avoiding her and keeping C'Anne out of the mud as much as possible. It all went down hill very fast. "The funny part is, she has her scent all over Him! And she doesn't even have a wisp of him on her! Its like he doesn't even want her." Ansel's head whipped around and a deep growl erupted from inside him. "You will not talk about my mate in such a way. If you do so ever again I promise you, I will rip out your throat myself and feed it to the pack." Everyone in the room gasped, he'd done it now. He crossed a line. He threatened another pack member. His father would have his hide for this. He cursed under his breath and undid his tie. He reached across the counter and poured himself a glass of scotch. He hadn't drank in a long time. The last time he did it had been when C'Anne left. He shook his head and drank deeply. "You won't be in trouble, ya know?" A women wiggled in the seat beside him. Ansel glanced over annoyance plastered to his gorgeous face. It was Penelope's mom. "I will be." He replied taking another sip of his drink. The women shook her head. "Penelope humiliated an alphas mate.. not mention your mate is also alpha." Her voice quivered. Ansel nodded and didn't find anything good of the conversation to continue discussing the situation. He left Penelope's mother at the bar and turned to the patio doors that led to C'Anne. He needed to play his cards right and let the pack know that C'Anne was his just as much as he was hers.
