The drive to the Pack House was a short lived bliss of having C'Annes essence wrapped around him. He could've sworn she relaxed into the seat every time he embraced her presence. His wolf was enthralled in the essence, basking in the being of C'Anne. She soothed him. Made him feel okay, and that their situation wasn't too difficult for them. He tried not to think about their relationship in the past, but the memories always flooded back. C'Anne aged ten years ahead of him. The first time he met C'Anne she was older than the elder pack members, and they'd been around for one hundred years. The second time he met her he was thirteen, but C'Anne was sixteen. She'd been in the last year of her sixteenth but things seemed to change. She didn't treat him like a dumb pup she pushed into a pond. She treated him as a equal. She spent the entire summer training him to contain his wolf. She even managed to help him grow up. Thanks to her he was able to think freely with the wolf. Ansel glanced over at C'Anne, she was looking out the window watching the trees flash by. Looking back at the road he knew that a lot had to be done. C'Anne knew it too. Mating season was coming up and Ansel planned to hunt C'Anne. If she'd let him. C'Anne wound her hands together, twisting them in knots as Ansel pulled into a tight parking spot. "Nervous?" He asked while pulling the keys out of the ignition. "Terrified." She responded. C'Anne reached into her back pocket and pulled out a pill packet. Ansel stared at it in bewilderment. "What in the hell are those?" He asked. Ansel's nose twitched and he couldn't keep himself from sniffing the packet. "Are those Hormones?" The thought seemed to slam into Ansel. C'Anne rolled her eyes and popped a pill out of the case and put it on her tongue. The pill dissolved and soon the air around them seemed to change. C'Annes breathing changed as she took in her surroundings. Everything was sharper, objects looked softer and she smiled as she inhaled the smell of rain and dirt. When she glanced at Ansel she couldn't help the whine that escaped her throat. Ansel looked like an angry deer that was caught in the headlights. "What have you done?" He asked locking the car doors. C'Anne sat amused by his reaction. "Calm down, their lapine pills. They give me the abilities of a wolf for 48 hours." C'Anne was proud of her work, but Ansel looked like she had told him she was pregnant. She laughed awkwardly, unsure of what to do. "What if they ask what pack you're from? Or what your position is? What if they ask what your gift is?" Ansel asked all the right questions. C'Anne beamed and turned the pill packet over. "It says here that I'm an Alaskan Tombien, a alpha in training and my gift is one similar to the gift I have from the Fae so I can make water freeze and flowers grow." Ansel's face was hard as stone as she ticked off all the side effects of the pill. "You can only use one gift. It better be the ice one because apparently you're an Alaskan Mutt now. You better be able to pull this off." Ansel roughly unbuckled his seat belt and got out of the car. C'Anne did the same at a much slower pace. Ansel growing impatient walked over and helped her out of the car. Jerking her to her feet. She clung to his arm for balance and noticed she felt overly clingy to Ansel. Her emotions weren't in check but she didn't let that slip to Ansel or he would've had a fit. C'Anne clumsily leaned up to kiss his cheek. Ansel startled that she was being so peachy turned her towards the pack house. "That is a house full of wolves that will be dying to know why I smell like pumpkin spice and lilac. Conquer it first, then come for me." C'Anne frowned and a whine was in her throat ready to escape. She couldn't control it when Ansel shoved his hands in his pockets. It was his way of saying don't touch me right now. C'Anne blushed when it sounded, a lump formed in her throat and Ansel was already reaching for her. She buried her face in his chest and cursed. She wasn't acting herself. Ansel stroked her hair and she seemed to calm. She could feel his wolf wrap around her protectively and reassuringly. "You're going to have to calm down C'Anne. The wolf is an honest animal that only obeys its heart." C'Anne nodded as she started to make sense of it. She realized that it probably would have been better if she had stayed as a human. Ansel gripped her chin and angled her face up to his. C'Anne looked into Ansel's eyes and her heart fluttered. She didn't even realize that her eyes had shifted or that her vision became a bit stronger. Ansel noticed though, he cursed and held her at arms length while he studied her eyes. He frowned but laced his fingers through C'Annes. He needed to get her back to his house, he turned and tried to make his way back to the car. C'Anne didn't argue for she was too focused on how Ansel's hand fit over hers perfectly. "Ansel! The party is this way!!" Ansel came to a stop and C'Anne walked right into his back. She barely noticed Penelope who was fast approaching. Ansel held C'Annes hand tighter and mumbled "She's only a friend." C'Anne peered around his broad back and she couldn't contain the small growl that began. Ansel jerked her hand forcing C'Anne to stay hidden behind him. C'Anne not entirely sure of her emotions yanked her hand out of his and stepped closer to him. She rested her forehead against his back and sighed. A warm rush settled over her, she couldn't keep herself from wrapping her arms around his waist and pulling herself closer to him. She wasn't paying attention to the conversation but she felt a soft breeze start from within in her and spread out over Ansel. Ansel stiffened and laced his fingers over hers. C'Anne not liking his response chose that moment to wiggle her way out from behind him. She wanted to see who was keeping him from her. Penelope glanced at C'Annes face then back to Ansel's before she did a double take. Her words fell flat, as she stared at C'Annes eyes. Penelope took a couple steps back which made C'Anne feel comfortable. Ansel let go of C'Annes hand and glared at her. Penelope bit her lip while tucking her hair behind her ear. "I didn't know you had a mate." Her voice was barely above a whisper. C'Annes wolf bared it's teeth at Penelope. Ansel could sense it. Penelope not wanting to back down from a challenge growled menacingly. "What makes you think we're mates?" C'Anne asked foolishly. Ansel reached for her but she danced out of his grip. Penelope frowned and tears streamed down her face. "Because your eyes are in sync. You both have the same pattern and color!" She turned and began to head back to the pack house. C'Anne stared after her for a long while before she turned her fury on Ansel. "She looked a bit too happy to see you." C'Anne spat. Ansel punched out a harsh laugh and shoved his hands in his pockets. He didn't move towards C'Anne. He was angry but she had put her wolfs scent on his without really even realizing it. His wolf wanted to do the same. She needed to learn that wolves aren't always gentle creatures. "She's just a girl C'Anne. Non of that territory shit was needed." Ansel spoke and kicked gravel around in the car park. C'Anne was suddenly infuriated. "You're probably right, but she was getting too close. It was as if I could feel you opening up to her." She took a step towards him, and Ansel moved away in return. C'Anne catching on held her ground staring into Ansel's eyes. She licked her lips and blue flashed across his iris's. "You have to play nice." Ansel demanded. C'Anne felt the need to please him. A pang of sadness sunk in when he didn't move towards her. She nodded and crossed her arms. "I will." She mumbled. Ansel's attitude faded and he walked towards her. He took her hand and lead her down to the pack house.
