Wednesday January 31st,  2018 - Becky's Skype vocal lesson with Mandy.

"Just... Breathe..." Becky finished off.

"That was amazing Becky, you've improved so much in the last month, I'm so proud of you. Just try to remember the timings on that last section part between 'just' and 'breathe' and at the beginning when you say 'hey guys its me, the biggest disappointment you know'. It's 1 and a half counts not 2 on the disappointment one and 2 counts at the end. But other than that, its spot on."

"Okay," Becky jotted the notes down in her notebook and music. "How long do I hold the 'just' for at the end, is that 3 or 4 counts?"

"3, that's where you're messing it up as your holding that for too long, so you then count the 2 after but you're then one count behind."

"Got it, I can't wait to do this one in our first physical lesson!"

"Neither can I." Mandy said with a smile, she really wanted to tell Becky what was coming her way, but she had promised Lin that he could do it. "Shall we do 'I'm not that girl', that the other one you're doing at your Night of Musical Theatre performance, isn't it?"

"Yeah, we have our first solo vocal rehearsals for the all the songs that aren't small groups or full company tomorrow and next week before half term. Just so our teacher can see if all the songs work with each of our voices and with the 'Leading ladies' theme. I think she is also using those songs to see which small group songs to do, so the whole show isn't to calm or too upbeat. My best friend, Immie, is doing defying gravity and we were going to try and blend them together so as I do the final notes of mine she'll start hers."

"Sounds good, let's do that one then to finish off."

Becky started the backing track from the folder Mandy had sent her after their first lesson.

"Hands touch, eyes meet, sudden silence, sudden heat. Hearts leap in a giddy whirl. He could be that boy, but I'm not that girl."

Becky shook her head from annoyance at herself as she went too low. She managed to continue and the finished the rest of practically perfect. There where a few other notes she didn't quite meet but she acknowledged them herself.

"Good job Becky, I know you noticed the errors, I could tell from your reaction. That's something really special you have, the ability to know when you messed up without me telling you."

"Thanks" Becky chuckled as she jotted her own notes down. Becky told Mandy the parts she'd acknowledged messing up just to check she had them all.

"That's it all. On that ending could you possibly bring it up a few notes so the transaction into defying gravity works better," Mandy demonstrated what she meant, and Becky tried it.

"That's it, yeah, go through that with Immie before Thursday if you can, If necessary give me a FaceTime call, text me first to let me know though, so I can show her."

"Fab!"

"Could you grab your mum, so we can just got through final plans for half term."

Becky ran out the room to get her mum. She came back in practically dragging her mum behind her.

"Okay, so plane tickets are booked for you both along with one spare for a friend, for Sunday afternoon. I'll pick you up from the airport after our 3pm matinee finishes at 6:30. I was thinking of doing a bit of quick sightseeing and get some dinner in the city. There is a hotel just down the road from me with 2 rooms booked. I was thinking we do 2 or 3 lessons throughout the week and I have couple of things planned for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday but the rest is up to you before you fly home again on the Sunday morning." Mandy explained.

Her mum nodded along, agreeing to everything. She was just happy that her daughter was enjoying herself and was finally able to go to New York after wanting to go for ages. The free hotels and travel was a bonus for this one, but in the future, would be the only way she would be able to go during each holiday.

"Sounds good. I can't wait to see you again." Becky said excitedly.

"I can't wait to see you again either, I owe you a big hug from all your progress. Also, I'm possibly doing a show on Monday at 54 below, its not confirmed yet as it's a going to be lots of different people, I know Chris is doing it. I was going to sing 'defying gravity' as well as a few other songs but I was wondering if you wanted to sing 'I'm not that girl' and then I can go into 'Defying gravity'."

"Oh My Gosh, I'd love to, if you think I'm ready for it, then sure. Could we do a lesson Monday morning, to practice together for it. It'd be great to see Chris again."

"I know Chris is wanting to see you again. And definitely. I'll put that in my calendar now. How's 10am?"

"Anything is fine with me. Thank you so much for all this."

"You're welcome Becky, you have a real talent here and I can't wait to see you grow as a singer and a performer. I need to go pick up Maribelle from school now but I'm right in thinking we have another session on Saturday at 10am for me, so 3pm for you."

"Yep, I'll see you then. I may FaceTime you tomorrow morning at some time to show Immie the idea for our Wicked songs. Would 7:15 be too early for you? Our club is at 12:15 here, but goes on until 12:40 so anytime between then would be fine."

"Could we do 7:30, Douglas does drop off on Thursdays anyway on his way to his studio and they leave at 7:25ish so I'm around from then."

"Perfect, you call me then that way I know you're ready."

"Okay. Great session today Becky, bye."

"Bye Mandy."

They hung up, Becky still struggled to get her head around that she was finally getting to go to New York. She had 2 full days free to plan her adventure of a life time.
