CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
2ND POV
11/17/17
~"Y/D?" Arcee said through the comm, unable to pull her optics away from the gory scene, "We found something, though I don't know if you want to see it."
"Sorry Arcee," You replied, trying to keep your optics from leaking. You gave a shaky sigh and ended the conversation, "I'm rather busy myself."
The field of piled up corpses of massacred Insecticons broke your spark. The tears spilled out unwillingly like they had so many times before. There had been many things that had made you sob previous to this, but the graveyard of your subjects really took the energon. All of this had happened before the war, before human kind had even been created.
Before you were able to do something about it.
You sighed and shook your helm, shaking excess tears off your faceplates before wiping the rest off. There was no use crying over something so far in the past. You did have hope that there might be survivors nearby, considering the areas your team were scouting were close to Insecticon nesting grounds. You had wanted to check out these places before you went deeper.
You hovered above the ground with a servo on your chin as you mentally debated your next move in your processor. Once the decision was made, you lurched forwards and pushed your wings to speed up, going farther and farther into the metal forest-like area. You said through the comm, pressing a digit to your audio, "Autobots, continue deeper into the nesting grounds. I'll meet you in there."
"Roger that, your majesty." Bulkhead replied immediately after.
"Of course, you beautiful piece of—" You cut Darksteel off before he could finish, "Nope. Got it, got it." You didn't need to be with Arcee to know she was probably getting a real kick out of this. But, you had other things to do than ponder your annoyances.
You had a hive to find.
~You ventured into the metal forest further, and it occurred to you that it was almost as much of a maze as the Nemesis halls. Lucky for you, you had a keen sense of direction, for you hadn't gotten lost at any point after becoming an Insecticon queen. You had no problem dodging obstacles as you explored the strange area. Your teammates had yet to tell you about this, but you'd just inquire about it once you met up.
You noticed destroyed areas along the way and random, scattered limbs. There were also more corpses that you forced yourself to fly past with great speed so the sight wouldn't be set in your processor. That wasn't something you needed, especially when you already had so much hope.
After a while, you spotted something moving. A faint sound had directed your attention to a nearby cave. You heard scratching, you saw scurrying, and your desperation made you speed over to the entrance of the cavern. You heard a couple of screeches and chirping noises from deep within. Grown Insecticons didn't chirp! Unless . . .
You mimicked the chirping noise to let them know you were there. Chirps came in return that acknowledged your presence, and a group of grown, male Insecticons crept forwards hesitantly. They created a wall to protect a couple certain somethings, but you used your natural royal charm, and they bowed while backing away. You fluttered closer to the small nest with a litter of recently hatched Insecticon sparklings.
"Aaaaaw! What adorable little hatchlings you are." You cooed happily. You giggled and reached out a servo to caress one of their helms. It grabbed your servo and sank it's not-yet-developed fangs into your armor, causing you to giggle from adorableness again.
"The eggs had been in their incubator pod since the middle of the war," one of the adult Insecticons informed you. Another one beside him hit him in the shoulder, and after the reminder he immediately added, "Er-! Y-your majesty." At least they knew royalty when they see it, you thought.
"I see," your replied, a smile apparent on your features, "and when were they hatched?"
"Only a few vorns ago, your majesty." A third one answered.
"The first sparklings born since the war began." A fourth one mused. The fifth one simply let out a grunt before you nodded in reply.
"My designation is Y/D. I have a base you can stay at that we can enter by ground bridge. I have many friends there awaiting your arrival, as well as the rest of my team that had been scouting for survivors along with me. The sparklings will be taken care of, but these gifts of good fortune will only come if you accept me as your queen." You announced, as you started to cradle a sparkling in your arms. The small group exchanged glances in silent agreement and all turned back to you.
"Of course, Queen Y/D." They said simultaneously, bowing in respect. You were satisfied, and pressed your digits to your audio while using your other arm to continue cradling.
"Team, meet up back at base. I've found what we came for, and so much more!" You commanded, trying to sound professional. It was rather difficult when you could barely contain your excitement in front of your own subjects.
"Copy that." Arcee responded. She sounded surprised that you'd reached your goal, though it didn't affect you. She ended with, "Meet you back at base."
"See you there." Bulkhead added before signing off with the two-wheeler.
"Heh heh heh! Yes ma'am." Skylynx replied, snickering obnoxiously for no reason whatsoever. You rolled your optics as Darksteel let out an "Mmhm," on the other end. Hopefully, they wouldn't be as bad with the hatchlings as they were with you.
"Alright, then." You said, sighing. "Ratchet, I'm going to need a ground bridge. Prepare the Med Bay while you're at it."
