chapter 14

Me, jack, and amy were on the couch watching spongebob. I was currently laying down because I had a major headache, my feet rested on jacks lap and amy sat next to him.

Amy and jack are as close as siblings. Its so adorable. "Babe." I break the awkward silence with spongebobs laughing in the background.

"Yeah?" He looks down at me and rubs my shin.

"Do you think marys gonna be okay?" He grips my knee slightly and I can see him subconsciously pull amy closer to him.

"I dont know."

"Babe, we have to talk," jack came barging into my room as I was changing.

"Wow, privacy much?" I giggled, but jack didnt seem to laugh. Oh my god, hes gonna break up with me. That little fucker!

He leads me to sit down on the bed as he kneels down in front of me. "Ok, so I love amy and mary very much.." wait what? "And I know you care and love them too... but..." oh god no. No, he cant do this. "We cant adopt them."

"Why not?" My voice was breaking and my heart felt shattered.

"Well 1) you havent found a job yet so you can pay for bills and food 2) youre only 18 3) when you do get a job, youll be too busy to care for them 4) I wont be here sometimes while you are here watching them by yourself and 5) im sure theyll need more than two 18 year olds watching after them. So I know you dont want them to go in an orphanage, but I found this amazing foster h-"

"Foster... home...?"

"Yes. And they said theyd gladly take them in. I ask them if we could meet them and they agreed."

I guess he was right. I cant take care of 2 kids by myself. I should just accept the fact that I cant make everything 100% better.

"Ok.." I whispered. Jack pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my head.

- (huge time skip) (probably about 2 months)

Amy and Mary are gone, theyve been adopted by a new family and are happy. Jack and the why dont we boys are on tour and im stuck at home doing nothing.

After I had successfully made a sandwich, I heard a knock at my door. I shuffle over, my sandwich in my hands as I take a bite. "Hello?" I say as I open the door.

"Hi im Aspen!" Oh no.

"I know. Im-"

"Sophie, I know jack told me about you." Oh goodness.

Ok, I dont hate aspen. Shes really pretty and nice and shes a good friend, but I dont exactly like her either. We have a weird thing I guess. Like, we both follow each other on instagram and like each others posts but we dont text or call each other like regular friends.

"Jack texted me and said you were all alone and he wanted me to check up on you."

"Ok, well, im good goodbye." I started to shut the door but she stopped me.

"Wait! Can I come in? We can talk and watch movies and I brought food." She holds up a bag of chinese and I gladly take it.

"No." I shut the door and lock it. I head towards my kitchen and set the food down. Sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and egg rolls. What a time to be alive.

My phone started ringing and I answer without looking at the caller id. "Heeellloooooo?"

"Did you seriously shut the door on Aspen?" Oh boy, it was jack.

"Yes, oh, miss you too," I said sarcastically.

"Look babe, I know you guys arent friends but that doesnt mean you can just take her food and shut the door in her face."

"What?! Why not?" Jack sighs.

"Because thats rude." Ugh. Why does he have to be so nice? When we were younger he was a complete weirdo, then puberty hit him like a rock and BAM BITCH you got yourself a hot, nice, and funny guy.

"But I got free food and alone time. I think im good without her." Jack sighs louder. He starts to groan and im pretty sure hes hitting his head with the phone. "Jack what are you doing?"

"Trying to to be aggravated. Look, aspen is outside still. Can you please just let her in? You dont have to be friends with her but please just hang out with her for a bit."

"She has other friends and ive got the tv im good."

"Sophie..." jack starts growling and I sigh.

"Ugh fine, dickhead. Love you bye," I snap. I end the call and head back over to the door. I open it to find aspen sitting in a chair on my porch. "You can come in." She smiles and skips inside. Oh jeez.

She sits herself on my couch and I hand her some of the food. "Here." She smiles again and I sit myself on the other side of the sofa.

"What do you want to watch?" I ask her.

"Anything fine with me." I give her a fake smile and click on the disney movie, Pinocchio.
