I was sitting on my living room couch watching the news with my mom when Dustin came running in.

"Up! Up! Get up!" He yelled lifting the couch cushion from under me.

"What the hell are you doing Dustin!" I yelled back standing up and moving away from the couch.

"Another stupid penny!" He said avoiding my question and threw the penny towards where my mom was sitting with mews.

"Dusty, watch it! You almost hit Mews." My mom told him scratching Mews ears.

"Can I please check under your cushions?" Dustin asked squeezing by me and the couch.

"Dusty"

"Mom, please. It's an emergency" My little brother said whining, making him and my mom both mockingly whine.

"I have quarters if you need them for the arcade Dusty." I told him after he pulled 4 quarters out of the chair.

"Yes, yes please" he said excitedly. I ran to my room quickly and pulled out the 3 dollars worth of quarters.

"Here, that is three dollars worth of quarters Dusty. Don't waste them,  and don't accidentally put them in broken machines again" I reminded him as I handed him the 12 quarters.

"Thanks, love you. Love you too mom" he said before sprinting to the other room. I fixed the chair and couch cushions and my mom and I continued to watch the news.

"See you guys later" Dustin yelled at us but before we could answer back the front door shut.

"Hazel honey. Do you ever worry about Dusty? With what happened to Will and all." My mom asked worried.

"Uh, I mean I guess? I know he can take care of himself, and I think they are a lot careful now then before" I told her hoping to calm her down. Truth is, I don't know if I should be worried or not. It was around 8 and Dustin was gonna be home soon, my mom planned on staying up until he got back, and I was tired so I went upstairs and went to bed.

Some days I drive Dustin to school, occasionally him and his friends and other times he just rides his bike. Today was one of the days he rode his bike. I left the house at 8:10 and got to school around 8:20. We didn't live far from the school which was a good thing for Dustin whenever he wanted to ride his bike. I parked my car and as I got out someone quickly pulled into the spot beside me. I stood by my car door, watching the guy like everyone else. We made eye contact and he winked at me before flicking his smoke onto the ground and walking towards the school, as the three girls behind me were talking about the new guys butt.

"Hey Hazel!" I turned around shutting my car door and saw Steve and Nancy smiling and waving me over.

"Hey guys" I say smiling back making my way over to them.

"So the new guy seems great" I told them as we began walking into the school.

"Yeah seems like a great pain in my ass" Steve said rolling his eyes.

"Hey, we haven't talked to him, he could be cool" Nancy told us kindly. Nancy always saw the best in people, but Steve and I knew the guy was an ass. We got into the school and I saw Dustins friend Will standing at his locker.
