It was my birthday. I had gotten up and tamed my poofy red hair, and put some light makeup on. I changed into a light green tank top and black skinny jeans, along with basic black and white converse shoes.
It was a perfect day. I ate chicken and waffles and laughed and danced. Then it all changed in the blink of an eye. First, my friend Kaylee heard a huge explosion and yelled for everyone to shut up. Then, I ran outside, to try to see where it came from. I saw the very cliche explosion mushroom cloud. It was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen. After everyone rushed outside, a wave of intense heat passed by us. It engulfed us. It wrapped around us like a thick blanket and sank in. We knew we had to move.
But that had been a few months ago. Now, I was sitting in a spaceship eating cool ranch Doritos and looking at the moon as we passed by. It had been two months. I was currently heading towards the colony on Mars.
I missed Earth, the little things mostly. How you could wake up and any kind of weather could be outside.
