"would it be wrong to ask theo on a date?" i wondered , looking at my best friend , mason .
"um it depends - do you want to go on a date with him ?"
i started my sentence, "i gu-" but it was quickly interrupted .
"since when were you into guys ??" mason asked as confusion devoured his face .
"um , well i thought you had picked up on it but i guess you're not as smart and i thought you were ."
mason laughed before nodding , "well, if you really want to ask him then just ask him."
i pondered the thought for a moment before shook my head , "no."
mason's eyes widened , "huh?"
"i said no."
"why?"
"cause he'll say no."
mason shook his head , "you're liam dunbar why are you worried about taking a risk right now ? it's never stopped you before ."
i rolled my eyes before pointing out , "well i've never really been scared of rejection before ."
"ohmygosh, just ask him . today , at school ."
yes, it was 7 o'clock in the morning and yes, we were standing outside of the school discussing decisions that might haunt me in the future .
i looked around a moment before nodding , "okay fine i'll do it . i got this ."
mason grinned , "there you go ! now go get 'em tiger - or wolf . whatever you are . you get the point okay ." i laughed at his failed attempt to encourage me .
a few minutes later , i finally got the balls to walk into the opening door to the school . i looked for theo . i might not ask him now , but i was going to ask him eventually unless i was to chicken out . which i might , but then mason might kill me .
my attempts to find theo didn't work . he was usually late but i was hoping i would be lucky this time .
i went to my first class , which i knew theo wasn't in and i sat through history thinking about what i was going to say to him . maybe i could make it simple , or do something crazy like when couples go to prom together . but nah , that was too much work .
my feelings for theo had increased a lot since after the war . & everything was easy now . it was easier to talk to him , it was easier to do what i wanted without feeling like something was after me 24/7 , and it was easier to be with my friends . as friends instead of fighters .
but theo had disappeared most of the time . he wasn't at school a lot and we never saw him outside of school either . my fear was that he thought we wouldn't need him anymore . maybe he would leave.
i sincerely didn't want that .
we never knew when something would pop up out of nowhere that causes us to need his help . he was very powerful , and that fact helped my fantasies .
the day flew by and before i knew it , i was heading home . i usually walked unless i had a bad day and this day hadn't seemed to disappoint me yet , and i needed the work out anyways .
i didn't live to far from the school , but that was in a werewolves point of view , others would probably suffer while taking the time to walk to my house .
when i arrived home , i threw my stuff down when i walked into my room and face planted into my bed . i sighed before i grabbed my phone from my pocket and turned my head to look at it . i had no messages but i was very tempted to text theo . it was nerve wracking of course , but i would feel better when i finally did it .
i opened his contact and typed a small message that read ,
"hey where are you ?"
i sat there thinking i was a failure for a minute before my phone dinged and my heart jumped .
i checked it and it turned out it was just a text from mason asking if i got home safe . i didn't reply and sulked in dissatisfaction .
it was a few minutes later before my phone dinged again . i re-grabbed my phone quickly and looked at the screen .
new message : theo raeken
my heart jumped in excitement before i opened the message .
it read "sick"
i rolled my eyes at the obvious lie . werewolves / chimeras couldn't even get sick .
me : you're lying . where are u ?
theo : i didn't want to come to school
me : omfg i mean where can i find u
theo : watch ur language
me : still not answering the question
theo : not telling
i grained in annoyance before replying .
me : im gonna find u
theo : good luck w that
me : omg nvm just tell me where i can't find you
theo : do u want to see me ?
i widened my eyes at the question being asked . though , i was utterly happy he wasn't there to see my dumbfounded expression .
me : kinda
me : not really
me : actually yeah
me : i have to ask u something
i sighed and realized i shouldn't have sent that many because now i sounded like a desperate ex girlfriend .
theo : stop blowing up my blowing up my phone DUMBar
i frowned at the slight fact that i was annoying him .
me : im sorry
theo : what do you need to ask me ?
at this point , i was upset . i wanted to ask him but what if i really did bother him ? but what if he was just joking ? ughhhh i don't know .
me : i still need to know where u are
theo : still don't know if i wanna tell u
and suddenly , my phone dinged with a "dropped pin from theo raeken". i grinned in victory .
me : you have sURRENDERED
theo : stfu
he was slightly close to the school , so i assumed it was at the gas station . my mom was never home until night , so i really just left and came when i wanted to .
i began walking . i literally walked everywhere bc i preferred it more than driving , even though i had no vehicle yet .
i followed the location on my phone of where the beautiful theo raeken would be.
i recognized the vacant parking lot of the gas station where there was only the large truck where i knew i would find him .
i walked slowly , i was nervous honestly . i was scared to talk to him , but that's just because i know i had to ask him and soon .
i was scared he would say no . but , i wouldn't know until i tried .
as i got closer , i looked into the window and saw a beautiful specimen looking at their phone in a dark blue long sleeved shirt . my heart skipped a beat .
when i was close enough , i knocked on the window with a smile . he took his eyes off his phone and looked at me with amusement . he rolled down the window and i said quickly , "hi ."
"hi . you found me , now what do you want ?" he said with a smirk . almost like his eyes were staring into my heart beat and knew what i wanted to ask .
"uh - how are you ?" i asked him , obviously trying to avoid what i wanted to ask him .
"i'm fine liam , what do you really want ?" the beautiful boy replied and i just chose to go for it .
"um.." my heart beat was increasing . i was so scared omygosh . "would you like to go on a - um .. "
i stopped a minute and broke the eye contact, looking down . it's almost like i felt theo raise an eyebrow .
i took a deep breath and shook it off , relaxing . i would embarrass myself even more if i wasn't confident . i decided to start over , and complete it all in one go .
"do you want to go on a date with me , theo ?"
and just like that , the question was out of my mouth .
