A/N: Omg I'm sorry I took so long to update :( I'm horrible, I know. Hopefully the chapter will somewhat make up for it?

"Oh my gosh!" I ran over to where Ashton and Louis were tied up in dusty wooden chairs with duct tape over their mouths. I tore the duct tape off, trying to be gentle yet fast. Once it was off, I threw it on the floor and reached toward the ropes around them.

Before I could touch it though, Ashton shouted, "No!  Don't touch it!" I looked at him curiously, then watched as he gestured to a folded up piece of paper on a broken side table near the ladder.

Harry ran over to it, panicking at the situation, and picked it up with shaky fingers. Opening it, he read it aloud:

*Faggots don't deserve to live. So when you move one of the lover boys...you'll all go kaboom.*

Harry's face was pale by the time he had finished reading it, and I imagine mine was as well.

"Is it signed," I whispered shakily. Harry looked at the note again, and his face got even paler, if that was possible.

   "Nick," he whispered.

"Leave us,"  Louis called out. "The bomb will go off in ten minutes, even if you don't move us. There's no saving us; at least save yourselves." Ashton nodded.

   "Please," he whispered.

"Hell no!" Calum, who had been listening with the others, suddenly spoke up.

"Calum, there's no time to argue. Lou and I am going to die either way. We don't want you guys to die with us," Ash suddenly shouted. Calum looked at me with a determined face, but I couldn't concentrate on what was going on. All that was going through my mind was *AshAshAshAshAshAsh*.

"Has everyone forgotten that I was training to be a cop before we started the band? I know how to defuse a bomb," Liam spoke up.

I looked at him with hope in my heart. "Do you think you can do it?"

Liam looked at Harry and I, both pale as ghosts and with tears running down our cheeks, then to Louis and Ashton who had hope in their eyes. "I can try,"  he said.

As he stalked over to the black box on the floor that I had somehow missed before, the rest of us looked around at each other, daring to hope we could get out of this.

"Guys," Liam called out, "this bomb...I can't defuse it." I started loudly crying.

"But," he continued, "I can make it pause for a few minutes."

"Well then do it!" Harry barked at Liam, his face red now.

"Yelling isn't going to help," Calum said.

"One second...got it!" Liam jumped up. "We have twenty minutes before it goes off. We'll have to jump out the window if we expect to get away in time." He started untying Ash and Lou while the rest of us looked for something to pry open the window. Finally, Michael found a crowbar, and started at the window.

Ash and Lou stood up, rubbing their sore wrists. Michael popped the window open, looked down, then looked back at us.

"See you down there," he said, then jumped. Calum, Niall, Zayn, and Liam followed.

"Come on," Ash said to me, pulling me toward the window. I looked down at the ground and gulped, then sat on the window pane. Swinging my legs around, I said a quick prayer and let go. I was in free fall for a moment, seeing the world flash by, then I landed on my feet on the ground below.

"Damn it," I said at the sharp pain that flashed through my ankles when I landed. I then turned around just in time to catch Ashton, who had had his eyes squeezed shut.

"You caught me," he whispered reverently.

"Always," I replied. I set him on his feet beside me, and turned yet again to see Louis land in a heap in front of me. I ran to him, crying out.

Harry soon fell to the ground, and got up looking toward Louis, who I was huddled over while unsuccessfully trying to wake him up.

"You'll have to carry him," I called out to Harry, hearing the beeping of the bomb quicken. Harry hoisted Louis onto his shoulders, and we all ran away from the house, trying to get away before the explosion.

We ran until we couldn't run anymore, ending up in a field about three miles from the house. Leaning over to catch my breath, I could hear a loud boom in the distance, and see smoke rising. I turned to see Harry over Louis' body, which he had laid on the ground. I walked over to him.

"How is he doing," I asked, kneeling next to him. Harry looked at me with tear-filled eyes.

"He won't wake up, Luke. What if...what if the earlier fainting messed his brain up, and he never wakes up from this one?"

   I hugged Harry. "I don't know, Harry. I don't."

Niall ran up to us, his phone in his hand. "I called 911,"  he said. "They said they'd be here soon."

Harry started rocking Louis in his arms, and I got up to look for Ashton. I found him a few minutes later, sitting under a tree. I walked over and sat beside him, staring at him the whole time.

"What," he asked, his face red. I reached a hand toward his face and laid it on his cheek.

"You're okay," I whispered. "I...I thought I was going to lose you. But I didn't...you're okay." I suddenly leaned over and hugged him, repeatedly whispering that I loved him in his ear.

"I know," he whispered back, "I love you too."

As I continued to lean into his embrace, I heard sirens coming closer.

This time, I vowed, Nick was going away for a long time.
