Weightless

Chapter 9

Tony and I were in the helicopter, I put up a fight about Barton and they agreed to release him. The others will kill me next time they have a chance. I looked at Tony and he smiled at me. I smiled back. He grabbed my hand and started rubbing circles on the back of it. He cupped my cheek with his hand and kissed me. I smiled more.

"I couldn't stand the thought of not kissing you everyday" he said and I blushed.

"I couldn't either" I admitted as the helicopter stopped in mid air.

"Were here" he said and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"How are we going to- he pushed a button and his suit consumed him, the chair made him exit out the bottom of the helicopter and I heard jets. What about me?

"Tony not all of us can fly!" I called as I opened the door.

"Oh right sorry" he apologized as he flew to the door. He picked me up and flew us down to the door. Once he set me down we walked in and got in an elevator. Once we exited it we stopped and saw Steve and Bucky.

"Traitor" Bucky mumbled. Then it looked like Steve elbowed him. Bucky had a gun pointed at Tony and I while Steve was protecting them with a shield.

"You seem a little defensive" Tony said as his helmet retracted into his suit.

"It's been a long day" Steve stated.

"At ease, Soldier. I'm not currently after you" Tony responded.

"Then why are you here?" he asked.

"Could be your story's not so crazy. Maybe. Ross has no idea I'm here. I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, I gotta arrest myself" Tony admitted.

"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork" Steve joked as he lowered his shield.

"It's good to see you, Tony" he added.

"Oh, and you to Athena. Glad your alright" Bucky finished for Steve.

"You too, Cap" Tony responded.

"Hey, Manchurian Candidate, you're killing me. There's a truce here. You can drop..." I started and Steve signaled Buck to put his weapon down. The 4 of us walked down a corridor but I felt like someone was watching us. I put my hand up, making them stop.

"No one move" I whispered. Then Tony put his helmet back up and we continued on.

"I got heat signatures" Tony stated.

"How many?" I asked.

"Uh, one" Tony muttered. As we enter the vast chamber the lights come on. Hazy, yellow mist descends within the capsules. As well as Josef, each one contains an enhanced soldier from the 1991 experiment. The others and I looked around, bewildered.

"If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep" Zemo informed on a speaker.

"Did you really think I wanted more of you?" he asked directing the question at Bucky.

"Or you?" he added while looking at me.

"You weren't-

"I was in charge of the red room!" Zemo announced.

"What the hell" Bucky whispered.

"I'm grateful to them, though. They brought you here" Zemo sneered. Zemo appears in a control room. Steve hurls his shield but it flies back.

"Please, Captain. The Soviets built this chamber to withstand the launch blast of UR-100 rockets" Zemo's accent said, it was getting on my nerves!

"I'm betting I could beat that" Tony challenged.

"Oh, I'm sure you could, Mr. Stark. Given time. But then you'd never know why you came" Zemo sneered and Bucky, Steve, and I exchanged worried glances.

"You killed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here?" Steve asked in bewilderment.

"I thought about nothing else for over a year. I studied you. I followed you. But now that you're standing here, I just realized... there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes. How nice to find a flaw" Zemo continued.

"You're Sokovian. Is that what this is about?" Steve asked.

"Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell. No. I'm here because I made a promise" Zemo admitted.

"You lost someone?" Steve asked as he studied Zemo.

"I lost everyone. And so will you" Zemo stated as he played footage from December 16th 1991. The 4 of us walked over to the screen.

"An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one which crumples from within? That's dead... forever" Zemo threatened.

"I know that road. What is this?" Tony asked. The video plays. That car that the Winter Soldier forced off the road crashes into a tree. Tony watches intently as the Winter Soldier rides up and gets off his motorbike. Steve watches Tony's increasing unease. The driver lies on the ground beside the car. It's Tony's father, Howard.

"Help my wife. Please. Help" we heard Howard cry. The Winter Soldier walkes over and hoists him up by his hair. He stares at Howard's bloody face. Howard stares back pleadingly.

"Sergeant Barnes?" he asked.

"Howard!" Maria called. Tony looked like he was about to cry. When the video finished he glared at Bucky. Tony pushed me behind him.

"Tony. Tony" Steve begged trying to get reason.

"Did you know?" Tony asked Steve.

"I didn't know it was him" he admitted.

"Don't bullshit me, Rogers! Did you know?" Tony shouted. Bucky was staring into my soul.

"Yes" Steve finally admitted. Tony shot at both Bucky and Steve, Bucky was disarmed. The two boys fought then Bucky came over me and punched me. This is the only time that I will thank Zemo for anything especially the red room. I kicked Bucky then blocked a number of punches. We fought and I found his fight pattern, there was none. We eventually got to this main room that had snow in it. Steve and Tony were there to. Bucky kicked me against the wall and held me back by my throat. His hand was around it and I couldn't breathe. I pulled and pulled at his arm but nothing would work. When my lungs were screaming for air I felt weightless. Like I didn't need anything anymore. Tony came out of no where and pried Bucky's hand off of my throat and threw him across the room. I fell onto the ground and gasped for air. I didn't get enough and my eyes closed. Darkness consumed me.
