The new found ride to school had been a stroke of luck as a more heavy rain surrounded the outside to point where it was a bit difficult to see the road ahead. Despite the bad weather Jonathan kept a firm hold on your hand as his arm rested on the beside him only steering with one hand. The responsible part of you wanted to tell him to put both hands on the road just in case the tires slid from the accumulating water but the teenage-girl-in-love-with-her-head-in-the-clouds side overpowered safety and kept a firm hold on him as well.

There was something about that hand that seemed so magical. The hand alone could ease any fear or sad feeling that you were having in a near instant. The way that hand moved through you hair always managed to bring a smile to your face and left you wanting more. And the way that hand softy rubbed your back when you both were just sitting watching a movie made your heart flutter.

"It's a good thing I picked you up today." Jonathan spoke breaking the comfortable silence in the car that could have put you into a light sleep. "You would have been soaked at school."

"Maybe I should start keeping my clothes in your car. My closet could use the extra room." you smiled thankful that he had picked you up as well.

"Tell me about it." he answered with a small laugh in his voice. "I can't believe your mom didn't hear me the other night. I almost suffocate in the pile of clothes and shoes."

You couldn't help but laugh at his statement and the memory of the night before. Once or twice a week Jonathan would "sneak" out of his house and knock on your window when your parents had gone to bed at 10 p.m. Those nights were the highlights of your week and the sight of him struggling to crawl through your second story window would always make you laugh silently. You both were never awake for too long whenever he made himself comfortable for the night. The lights were almost immediately turned off as you relaxed in your soft bed with Jonathan's arms wrapped tightly around your waist. His lips always found their way through your hair and to your head pressing lightly against the skin whenever he thought you had fallen asleep first. But in reality you forced yourself to stay awake until his light snoring purred in your eye allowing your to feel his warmth and listen to his gentle breath until you drifted off as well.

"I would have just died if you came crashing through the closet door." you told him with a slight shake of your head.

"Oh I'm almost positive it would have been fine." he replied sounding a bit smug. "Your parents love me."

"My parents love you in the daylight, honey. Not after curfew and definitely not on a school night." you reminded him as your parents (mostly your mother) laid down a new set of rules once you told them about your new boyfriend.

Jonathan only smiled at your comment as he pulled into the busy parking lot of the school. Kids were much more active running around the yard trying to get into the dry inside without their hair and clothes becoming soaked. Today, instead of immediately pulling into his usual parking space, Jonathan pulled along side of the school near where the front entrance had been.

"I'll let you out here so you don't have to run in the rain." he said placing one last kiss on the back of your hand before slowly letting it go.

"I'll meet you at this entrance after lunch. Then we can leave." you told him not forgetting your recent plans to ditch.

"Sounds like a date." he smiled as you exited the car in a hurry to the front entrance not bothering to pull your hood up over your hair.

The halls were a buzz with students who were excited for all of the upcoming Halloween parties as they shared ideas and stories for previous parties that they hoped to see again. A few students passed out homemade flyers advertising their own party in hopes that more students would come to theirs.

As you walked down the long hallway toward your locker you managed to dodge a few hands that tried to give you the party invite having zero interest in attending.

"There you are." Nancy greeted as you noticed her leaning by your locker a few books pressed close to her chest. She must have gotten a ride surely from Steve today as well as she wasn't wet at all.

"Hi, Nancy." you greeted her warmly feeling happy to see her.

Nancy and yourself had grown rather close the past year as you both suffered a similar heart ache that only the two of you could understand. What really happened to them could never be discussed out loud and never revealed to the public or the lives of yourself and your parents would be in extreme danger.

"Planning on doing anything fun for Halloween?" she asked as you packed away your things in your small locker only taking out what was necessary for the first class. "Oh just sitting around with Jonathan watching movies."

"That seems about right." you told her with a slight laugh knowing that was probably going to be what happened even though it hadn't been discussed.

"Well I'm not letting you stay home." she announced getting ready to walk to her first class as the first warning bell rang. "I'm going to pick a party and you and Jonathan will come with Steven and I."

Before you had a chance to protest or attempt to change her mind she was lost in the sea of kids.
