Her teeth chattered as her heels clicked on the wet cement. She didn't know where she was, or how far from campus he took her. She was lost. The wind ripped through the air, blowing her wet locks into her face. Her short black bodycon dress sheds no protection from the storm. The dress he picked out for her. The dress he was trying to get off her just an hour ago.-
" so what did you think? Pretty good food right? I told you you'd like it" chuck says, gesturing towards Betty in the passenger seat.
" it was good, a little far from campus but good. Where are we anyway?" She aks, looking out the window of his truck. His grip tightens on the steering wheel.
" just good? You should be a little more grateful, you think another guy would take you to a fancy place like that?" He says giving her a sideways glance. The windshield whippers keep a steady rhythm, matching the song that chuck was playing. The rain was heavy and falling at a fast rate. Chuck looks at her and smirks, pulling the car over on the deserted road they were driving on . He quickly unbuckles and turns around pouncing on her. His hands on her waist, Betty ducks her head out of his reach.
" come on babe, can we just get back to campus?" She mumbles. He ignores her and moves his hands lower to her thighs, squeezing painfully tight making her yelp.
" chuck stop" she says trying to push him off. He ignores her and nibbles on her earlobe. His hands gliding up her dress .
" get off me!" She yells shoving him off. As if second nature he raises his hand forming a fist and swiftly hits her across her facs. She groans, a hand coming to meet the skin where a dark bruise was already forming around her left eye.
" your such a fucking tease!" He yells slamming the steering wheel. Betty sinks lower in her seat. Chuck looks at her then back at the road.
" you can fucking walk back to campus you bitch" he says leaning over, opening her door. Betty stares at him in disbelief.
" chuck please I'm sorry, I have no clue where I am or how to get bac-"
" I don't give a shit" he says while roughly shoving her out of the seat and onto the pavement. Betty quickly gets back onto her feet. Chuck slams the door, window rolled down he throws her hand bag out the window as he speeds off.
She rushes over to her bag. She groans when she sees it was open and her phone had flown out. She finds it a few yards away, face down. She gulps as she reaches down, and yells out load when she turns it around and sees the screen has been separated from the rest of the phone due to the blow. She shifts uncomfortably in her heels as she heads down the road.
-
Betty smiles to herself when she sees shining lights in the distance, but this makes her not see the stick in front of her. She trips, her knees meeting the pavement as she falls. She groans as she rises back up, whipping the mud off of her.
Can't catch a fucking break she thinks.
By the time she makes it to what seems to be a movie rental store her hair is soaked, her vision in her left eye is nearly gone and her knees sting like a bitch. She rushes toward the store, and nearly starts to cry when she pulls on the door to find its locked. She looks into the window, a boy her age sits on a stool behind the counter, his feet up on the table top, book in one hand while the other is behind his neck. He wears a grey shirt with a dark denim jacket over top, the crown looking beanie on his head with little black curls poking out makes Betty cock an eyebrow. She bangs on the door. He turns a page at the sound, his eyes never leaving his copy of 'lord of the flies'
" we're closed!" He yells.
Betty frowns and bangs again.
" Please! I just need to use your phone!" She yells. He looks up at the sound of her voice. She's not a late night strangler drifting in from some pub somewhere like he had assumed. Instead his eyes meet the emerald green ones of a beautiful girl. She looks disheveled and soaked. Her blonde locks where now laying in big wet clumps around her face, and her dress has specks of dirt and pebbles. He frowns when he sees the bruise covering her otherwise blemish-less face. And he feels a bit of pity when he sees her scraped knees. He gets off his stool and walks over to the door, unlocking it and opening it letting her inside. She immediately walks past him and sighs when she finds that the store has heat. He shuts the door and turns to her. She looks at him.
" the phones behind the counter, but I wouldn't get your hopes up, the storm probably knocked the telephone poles down" he states. She looks at him in disbelief.
" then why did you unlock the door if you knew your phones were down?" She questions, stepping away from him awkwardly. He looks to the door then back to her.
" what, was I not gonna let you in? It's pouring" he says walking back around the counter. She follows slowly, staying on the customer side.
" I'm Betty- Betty Cooper, sorry for just showing up like this" she says putting her bag on the table. He looks up at her.
" what happened to your eye?" He says, he reaches out a hand, gesturing to her face. His eyes were filled with a mixture of concern and bewilderment. She frowns.
" it's a- it's a long story" she says bringing her own hand to her eye. Her voice is final when she speaks, letting him know that she is uncomfortable with where the conversation is going. He looks out the storefront window, when suddenly the power goes out.
" and there goes the power lines" she mumbles.
Jughead looks at her, she was beautiful.
" well it looks like we're gonna be stuck here for a while Betty, I'm Jughead" he says.
Betty chokes back a laugh; instead just a goofy smile crosses her face.
" Jughead?"
" yea Jughead, it's a nickname,my real name is worse trust me" He says leaning on the counter.
" so what brings a pretty girl like you banging on my door at 12 am during a thunder storm?"
