I looked outside from the one small window in my white room. I saw the blue sky which looked even brighter today than usual days. Spring was starting, I believe due to the blossoming flowers and green grass. The trees were now taking full form.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a door knock. I opened the door and found my tutor. I sat on the bed and she took out some books. I stared at her taking in her looks. She had red hair that was short and her eyes were hazel.

She was one of the few people I have ever had contact with in my seventeen years of living. Mom who had left when I was five, dad, my servant, and lastly her.

"Today we are going to learn about different chemicals and how they react." she said. I nodded in response. I never really talked to anyone because I thought that was unnecessary.

She started the lesson and in about a couple of seconds, minutes, hours or who knows how long we were done. I really didn't know about the time since I didn't have a clock or calendar. The only way I knew how old I was, was all because of the one day were I would get desert: my birthday cake.

You could consider this as prison except I wasn't tortured. My dad who doesn't know how to raise a child thought that it was best for me to have no contact to the outside world. He thought that if I were to be successful I would have to be proper and polite.

The thing that I don't get is that how can I be successful when I don't have any human contact other then him, my tutor and servant. I didn't even talk to them at all. Only a couple of words came out of my mouth everyday.

"Dinner is ready." said a voice outside of my door. I finally noticed that I was staring out the window looking at small kids playing. How horrible that my room was right next to a playground. It would be really fun to go on the swings or slides. I have learned about them, but never have had any experience.

My room consisted of a small bed and two couches. One for my dad or my tutor and the other for me. There was a bathroom in it too. I had the one window and a closet filled with clothes.

"Destiny, dinner is ready!" the voice repeated. This time I slowly got up and made my way to the door.

I slowly opened it and to my surprise it was my dad. "Thank you." I said taking the plate in my hands and opening the door a little bit more so he could come inside. He looked weak, but sounded perfectly fine. I gave him a smile.

"Do you want to go outside?" he asked. I nodded. Like I said I didn't talk much.

"We will go tomorrow. Now is the time that I want you to see the world. I kept you in this room so that you would turn out to be a proper, polite, and pure young lady. I didn't want you to be contaminated like other children."

"Thank you." I said.

"Be ready at 8. We will go visit places and then when you grow up, you can take care of the business." I was shocked. I didn't want to take care of the business. I wanted to do something different.

Nonetheless I nodded and asked him "What day is it today?"

Before leaving he said "The first day of spring, March 21. Why?"

I replied "I just needed to know because I plan on writing in the diary for the first time." He nodded and then shut the door.

Tomorrow would be the first day that I could see the outside world. It would be the first day I could see how other people acted. What did he mean by the world being contaminated? I had a feeling that he was wrong. I had a feeling that the world is a beautiful place and that I would enjoy it.

I remembered that I still had to eat my dinner and slowly I started it. This time I didn't look out the window while eating like I usually did. I could see everything tomorrow. There would be no point.

I took out my diary which I had gotten a couple of years ago for my birthday. The pages were blank because everyday of my life had the same routine. Nothing special ever happened. Today, today was different.

In my diary I wrote:

March 21

Dear Diary,

Today was the same as the other days except one special thing happened today that made it a reason to write in you. Today my dad brought in my dinner instead of my servant which was different. That wasn't the special part. We talked...well he did most of it while I nodded. Dad said that he would finally take me to see the outside world. I don't know what I would see tomorrow, but I believe that it will all be breathtaking. Right now I feel anxious and excited. I'll tell you what happens tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Destiny

I fell asleep writing my name. It was a long day and tomorrow would be much longer. I was excited and anxious for tomorrow.
