Banryu Repaired & Kalel's Nightmare

---Chapter 2: Banryu Repaired and Kalel's Nightmare---

They were just a couple hours from Bankotsu and Jakotsu's home village. And everyone was quite restless. Rosaline and Renkotsu got along better but still shot sarcastic remarks at each other. Jakotsu still whined about having to travel with women, and Kalel stayed near Bankotsu whenever Mukotsu would try to get close to her.

"Ugh, I need a break from all of you," sighed Bankotsu as he ran his hand through his bangs.

"Awe don't be so mean Big Brother," whined Jakotsu.

Everyone sighed and tried to tune out Jakotsu for the rest of the journey. Suikotsu and Jaclyn surprisingly got along the best out of all the pairs, which intrigued Renkotsu. He then noticed how close Rosaline and Ginkotsu are as they were talking about how they go about their day normally. As Ginkotsu explained how they would travel all day, sleep at night, and occasionally we would receive requests from villages or Lords to help them defeat a demon or other army.

"So wait you all act as allies to whomever pays you for your services?" asked Rosaline who seemed rather curious along with Jaclyn.

"Yes, we are roans. We just wander around looking for a fun time occasionally finding any man or demon to kill." stated Ginkotsu.

"Interesting." stated Jaclyn

'No wonder the Lords of the land felt they were too dangerous to let live. But honestly they all aren't too bad. Though Mukotsu is creepy they all act quite normal. So I wonder how things will turn out while they fight.' thought Jaclyn, Angelique noticed how her friend was deep in thought and decided to tease her a little.

"Hey Jac, you and Suikotsu seem to get along pretty well. Whatever happened to men being annoying creatures?" Angelique said in a teasing tone while elbowing Jaclyn.

"I'm bonded to him Ange, I might as well get along with him till this is all over and we can go home. Sides at least I don't have to deal with Bankotsu, the guy is mad scary, but men are still quite annoying creatures none the less, " answered Jaclyn as Suikotsu smirked.

"Big Brother isn't all that bad once you get used to him. He actually is pretty laid back, this whole situation just has him flustered. Give it a couple more days you'll see what I mean." Suikotsu reassured the girls who nodded at him.

Meanwhile at the front of the group Bankotsu and Kalel walked in silence. And oddly enough for the two of them it wasn't an awkward silence, if anything it was quite peaceful.

'She's the quietest out of all of them, and she hasn't said much of anything since the day we were initially bonded... I'm curious what exactly she's so deep in thought about.' Bankotsu thought as he stole glances at her while they continued walking. Just then as they neared the top of the hill they could see parts of the village.

Bankotsu said nothing as he calmly walked to a specific hut the rest of the group could only conclude as Shiro's. They all waited outside patiently for Bankotsu to return while Kalel joined him inside the hut.

"Hello, I am Bankotsu and I'm looking for Shiro. Do you know where I may find him?" stated Bankotsu as he looked at the couple sitting around a fire.

"I'm sorry, but Shiro has passed away. He was slain by a demon when they raided the village a couple weeks back. May I ask what you needed him for?" spoke the young man
