Beverly's P.O.V

I sat in a bathroom stall, hiding from Gretta. She's been tormenting me for ages now. It wasn't bad, really. Just a lot of names and rumors.

The bathrooms were quiet. That's why I came here a lot. But today, that wasn't the case. Gretta had found me, and the stall I was in.

She kicked the door, making me jump a bit.

"Are you in there by yourself, Beaver-ly?"

I cringed at the shitty name she made up for me.

"Or do you have half the guys in school with you, huh slut?"

There it was again.

That name.

Slut.

I stayed quiet. I wasn't going to give in to her bitching. It was pointless.

"Oi, Gretta."

A new voice drowned out the giggles of the other girls. A voice I hadn't heard in ages.

"What, (y/n)?"

(Y/n) Kaspbrak. One of the sweetest girls at school.

"The rumors. About Beverly."

"What about them?"

Just from Gretta's voice, I could tell she was getting annoyed at (y/n).

"They're not about her," I could hear her taking a couple of deep breaths. "They're about me. I-I told you that they were about Beverly so you wouldn't hate me."

I unlocked the stall door, and peeked through a small gap. What was (y/n) on about? Why would she say that?

"So you're the real slut?"

(Y/n) simply nodded. I could tell this wasn't going to end well. My thoughts were proven when Gretta's minions poured the trash bag onto (y/n).

Gretta and her minions left after laughing at (y/n). Then I heard the sobs. (Y/n) was crying, but she was also smiling.

"You're welcome, Bev." Her voice was almost a whisper.

I left the bathroom stall and grabbed some paper towel to clean her up. Once she was cleaner, I rested a hand on her shoulder.

"Why would you do that? Gretta's never gonna leave you alone now."

She sighed. I felt bad for her. She did nothing.

"I did it so you'd be free. I hated seeing Gretta bully you over rumors. You've done nothing. You didn't deserve this."

I gasped a bit. She really was the sweetest person ever.

"I-i should probably go. My brother's gonna lose his shit if I'm late out again."

She excused herself, and dashed out of the bathrooms.

~~timeskip~~

I was in the pharmacy, looking at... womens products when I heard a familiar voice two aisles over.

(Y/n)?

I got to the aisle where the voices came from, and saw (y/n) and three other guys.

"Hey guys. Hi (y/n)."

(Y/n) jumped, and turned around.

"O-oh! Hi B-Beverly."

Her face was going a bit red. Maybe that's why they were here. Is (y/n) sick? (God bev you're so oblivious)

(Y/n) explained what was happening. I knew exactly what to do.

"Thank you so much, Bev. Can I call you that?"

I nodded, and walked up to where Mr. Keene was.

Eddie's P.O.V

"Hey, (y/n). I didn't know you knew Beverly."

My sister turned to look at me strangely.

"I didn't tell you what happened?"

I shook my head, and she sighed.

"Well, on the last day of school, I heard Gretta in the bathroom. She was bitching about something to someone."

"As usual." Richie interrupted.

"And then she said 'Beaver-ly' and I realised that Bev was in there. I could hear what Gretta was saying now, and she was calling Bev a slut. And I got pissed off."

"Woah, that's impressive." I flicked Richie's forehead, and he shut up.

"And then I said that... the rumors about Beverly were actually about me."

I dropped all the medical stuff out of my hands, and gave (y/n) a shocked look.

"So basically, Gretta thinks you're the school slut now?"

(Y/n) nodded. It was a sad, slow nod. I gave her a hug, and asked her why she did that.

"I couldn't just let Gretta get away with it! I had to help her. That's what you do when... when you love someone."

The sound of a bag dropping came from behind (y/n). It was Beverly.

(Y/n) quickly pulled out of the hug, and tried to make up an excuse.

Beverly laughed a bit, and (y/n) seemed to become very interested in the ground.

"Ha, it's fine (y/n)."

Beverly walked over a kissed (y/n) on the cheek. I watched as (y/n)'s face lit up.

She stood there in silence, not saying anything or moving. It was... kinda creepy.

Eventually, she turned to face me.

"Woah."

That was all she said before sliding down the wall. She hid her face in her hands, but I could see her smile.
