It was four in the morning and the cold gloomy weather did nothing to help you stay awake. You were walking through the airport, your backpack hung on only one of your shoulders, your eyes threatening to close as soon as you sat down. You got to the waiting area of your plane and took one of the empty seats next to a girl dressed in all black with a baseball cap on. She turned to you, her eyebrows furrowed and her green eyes just as drowsy as yours.
You were too tired fo figure out what her expression meant so you just gave her a small smile and turned away from her. You took your boarding pass out of your backpack and leaned back in your seat. You shifted in your seat, trying to get as comfortable as you could in the small chair. You sighed and closed your eyes, waiting for the lady to call your seating group up.
You must have fallen asleep quickly, because next thing you know, someone was shaking your arm lightly, whispering that it was time to board. You groaned and rubbed one of your eyes before opening them. You looked ahead and everything was sideways. You lifted your head and realized that you had been resting it on the girl's shoulder who you had sat next to.
"Sorry," you whispered, your voice slightly raspy.
"It's fine," she let out before repeating her words, "Uh, our group is boarding."
You squinted at her and then processed what she had said as you nodded, a yawn escaping your mouth. You stretched your arms upwards and sighed, standing soon afterwards. You pulled on your backpack and stretched one last time before noticing that the girl wasn't standing, rather staring at you.
"Um, isn't – aren't you boarding also?" You asked her, pointing awkwardly to the door where people were lined up.
She snapped out of her daze and shook her head, quickly nodding afterwards. She stood up and followed behind you to the slowly receding line. You heard her yawn and turned to see her leaning against her luggage, her eyes drooping a little. She looked cute, all sleepy and... cuddly.
She smiled at you before opening her mouth to say something. An unexpected yawn came out instead and you laughed lightly. She smiled and shook her head, looking down at the floor.
"So, what's bringing you to Miami?" She asked, fighting back another yawn.
"Work. You?" you said, walking towards the entrance gates.
"I'm from there actually," She explained.
You nodded and gave your boarding pass to the lady next to the door. She allowed you to enter and soon the girl behind you followed.
"Uh, you got a name?" You spoke again.
"Yeah," she smirked, not giving in.
You smiled back and arched your eyebrow, "You're not gonna tell me what it is?"
She chuckled and held out her hand, "It's Lauren. What about you?"
"(Y/N)," you took her hand, quickly realizing how soft it was.
"Pretty name," she sighed out, continuing towards the plane door.
Soon, you both realized your seats were right next to each other. She smiled and gestured for you to sit first.
As she sat down she chuckled and whispered, "Must be fate."
You laughed and shifted in your seat. Sooner rather than later, you both drifted off to sleep, leaning against each other as the plane ascended.
