a/n: hmm this didn't go the way I planned it. also i know i said slow updates, but sometimes random ones too! :)

You walked into your dorm all tired and sweaty from your recent workout at the gym. Your roommate, Dinah, was sitting on her bed talking to her friend, Lauren. You didn't talk to Lauren much. You thought she just didn't like you because when you did try to talk to her she would look uncomfortable and would be a lot quieter than when talking with Dinah.

You quickly greeted them, not as embarrassed of the sweat that clung your shirt to your body when Dinah wolf whistled. You laughed and quickly stripped yourself of your muscle tee, leaving you in a sports bra and leggings.

Lauren cleared her throat, and when you looked up at her you saw that her cheeks were lightly pink and she was looking everywhere but at you. You furrowed your eyebrows, your eyes quickly shifting to Dinah, but she didn't pay you any mind as she was too busy smirking at Lauren.

"I'm... gonna hit the shower. I feel dirty," you croaked out, looking between them as you quickly collected your clothes to change into and your towel.

"Shouldn't be a new feeling for you," Dinah sassed and you just chuckled as you walked towards the small bathroom, quickly shutting the door so you could rid yourself of your filth.

Lauren's POV (kinda. it's like. third pov but on whats happening while youre in the shower)

"Bitch, I saw you checking her out," Dinah said as she pushed at Lauren's shoulder.

Lauren rolled her eyes, quickly denying the accusation. "No, I wasn't. Shut up."

Dinah laughed, shaking her head before saying, "Listen, you like her. And you know it. Why don't you just," she gestured randomly, trying to find the words, "grow a pair and ask her out?"

Lauren chuckled at the word choice before shaking her head.

"Dinah, I don't even know anything about her. Besides, she might not even like me like that," Lauren's voice lowered a little the longer she spoke.

Dinah gave her a 'are you kidding me?' look before rolling her eyes.

"Of course she likes you! How could she not! You're hot! She likes girls! C'mon!" Dinah repeatedly gestured between Lauren and the bathroom (Y/N) was currently occupying.

"Dinah, that's not..." Lauren sighed, chuckling a bit, "that's not how it works."

Dinah rolled her eyes once again before murmuring, "I know, I'm just saying."

"Whatever," It was Lauren's turn to roll her eyes, trying to end the conversation then and there.

"Lauren," Dinah said sternly, clearly not letting the subject rest. "She's not gonna be single forever, and you know it. Make a move before someone else does. I know you two, and you guys could be really good together."

Lauren's eye shifted away from Dinah. Lauren had been crushing on (Y/N) since the first day she had met her when she came to visit Dinah. Whenever (Y/N) was close, she could never find her words and that's when she knew the infatuation was more than just attraction. She wasn't in love with her, no, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Like Lauren said, they don't know each other that well, but Lauren really, really likes her.

shift in POV here

A few minutes passed and, much to Lauren's liking, Dinah decided to let it go when she saw how Lauren got. You came out of the bathroom, your dirty clothes and towel in one hand while your other was raking through your hair. You smiled slightly at the two girls who were chatting away when they looked up at you.

You sat on your bed after putting your dirty clothes and towel in the hamper and grabbing your laptop off of your desk. You opened it up, quickly checking emails, whispering out a small "yes!" when you read an email from your professor saying one of your classes was canceled tomorrow.

You went through a couple more before shutting it, looking over at Dinah and Lauren who were just whispering and gesturing at each other. Suddenly Lauren got up, whispered a harsh "No!" and walked out of the dorm, careful not to slam the door behind her.

You raised an eyebrow at Dinah before asking, "Everything alright?"

"Yeah. She's just, frustrated. Yeah," Dinah nodded.

"Ah," you hummed.

THE NEXT DAY!

Someone knocked on your door, repeatedly, and you groaned when you realized they weren't gonna give up anytime soon. You unhappily got up and dragged your feet towards the door. You opened it, not expecting to see Lauren standing behind it, given that Dinah wasn't here at the moment.

"Uh, Dinah's not –" you tried but Lauren was quick to cut you off.

"Yeah! No, I know. I just – I, um, I came here to talk to you, actually," She stuttered, her hands fidgeting and her eyes not meeting yours.

"Ah, alright," you said as you moved out of the way so she could come in.

"Ok," she sighed out once you closed the door behind you. "I – wow I did not anticipate how –" She cut herself off, shaking her head before speaking again, "Okay. Um, (Y/N)?"

You rose your eyebrow in concern, "You alright, Lauren?"

"Yeah, yeah. Just uh, listen. Okay I did not think this would be this hard," she whispered the last part, more to herself.

To lighten the mood, you smirked and tried pulling a joke. "The Lauren Jauregui, nervous?"

It didn't seem to work as her eyes looked around the room rapidly and her chuckle was lined with wariness.

"Lauren, I'm just kidding. Seriously, are you okay?" You spoke, being sincere with her.

"Oh my God," She groaned. "Listen (Y/N)! I like you! A lot!" She breathed out quickly.

Her eyes widened and she started stammering, "I – I mean, I..."

You smiled at her in disbelief, "Really?"

She nodded shyly before quietly murmuring something.

"What?" you asked, your smile still plastered wide on your face.

"Will you go on a date with me? This friday?" She asked again, looking a little more confident as she raised her head to fully look at you.

Although you didn't think it was possible, your smile got wider as you nodded shortly, quickly replying, "Yeah! Yes, of course!"

She let out a sigh of relief before reaching over you pull you into a hug. You quickly reciprocated it, chuckling a bit.

She pulled back just as quickly before saying, "Okay, I'll uh, I'll text you the details."

You nodded, your wide smile quickly making it's way back onto your face as she mirrored it. She pecked you cheek before walking towards the door of the room. Once she reached it she looked over her shoulder with a smile and waved her fingers at you with a small murmur of a "goodbye." You smiled and returned the gesture, plopping back onto your bed once the door closed, the smile still on your face.
