Chapter Nine
Tristan's POV
We entered the lobby of HQ. Zack walked a few minutes after us. He's still kind of tired and wants to go back to sleep. "Miss Stephanie?" I called out. It was about around 5:15 in the morning. "Tristan, is that you?" said a manly voice. "Mr. Jack?" I said. Mr. Jack came down the stairs. "What are you guys doing back so soon? We weren't expecting you guys for a long time from now." Mr. Jack said.
"Mr. Jack, we need to ask a favor," I pushed Rori and Caleb forward. "Two favors, I might add." I grinned widely. "Princess." Mr. Jack bowed. "Hello." She curtsied.
"Tristan, what's going on?" Mr. Jack asked. "Listen, the crafters that we were supposed to stop from kidnapping the princess ended up kidnapping Trevor and Daisy." I explained. "What do you mean? Who's this guy?" Mr. Jack asked pointing at Caleb. "This is Caleb. He can help us out. He's a crafter." I explained.
Caleb waved sheepishly at Mr. Jack. "Follow me." Mr. Jack insisted, walking down the hallway leading to the sections where we sleep. "Princess Aurora can sleep in the same room as you, Tristan. And Caleb with you, Nate and Zack." Mr. Jack said. "But I would wish to room with Nathaniel. We'll be wed soon enough." Rori smirked at Nate. "Nathaniel?" Mr. Jack whispered to me. "Just go with it." I whispered back.
"What's this 'we' stuff? I did not agree to be married." Nate kept using air quotes. "Oh, but you must! If I don't find a husband, who shall I rule the kingdom with?" Rori asked hugging Nate.
"Not me!" Nate commented pushing her off of him. "Oh, but Nathaniel!" Rori pleaded. "I'm sorry princess but we don't allow opposite genders to share rooms." Mr. Jack explained. Rori huffed and stomped her foot. I rolled my eyes.
Drama queen.
"Just let them." Zack said blasé. I couldn't stand it anymore. "While you guys figure this out, I'm going to go get some fresh air." I sighed. I walked back to the blue elevator and pushed 15.
When I left the elevator, I climbed up a flight of stairs and walked out to the ledge. I used a few boxes and sat on the wall with my feet dangling over the side.
I know, dangerous.
I couldn't stop thinking about Trevor. Where could he be?
He could be anywhere, you idiot. It's your fault he's gone.
I looked around. It was night time and the stars looked so beautiful. I looked down at the street below me.
Barely anyone was out. I wish I did something. Something to stop those rouges. If I ran out a half a second earlier, I would've stopped them from taking Trevor and Daisy.
Oh, Daisy. I miss hearing her voice. I miss my best friend. I sighed heavily. "Tristan, what are you doing?" a voice exclaimed. My body reacted faster than my brain and started to slip off the wall. Nate flew over and caught me.
He held me by the small of my back and underneath my knees. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." I couldn't look him in the eyes. He flew back over to the ground and set me down. "Why are you up here, Nate?" I ask, looking at the ground. "I just wanted to know if you were okay." He said rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, I'm not okay. Trevor's gone! I could be going after him and get him back. But instead, I'm here. I'm here worrying about where he is because I have no idea where to look for him. And the fact that I saved that heiress brat over Trevor's sanity says a lot." Tears started building up.
"Tristan, she's not that bad." Nate commented. "Of course, you take her side. You've had a crush on her since you were ten." I paused and exhaled. "You know what, Nate?" I started. I look him dead in the face, but I couldn't bring myself to finish what I was gonna say.
