The silence was killing me. It stifled my spirit and held me in my place as I watched Kakashi stand there, hand held over his headband ready to raise the cloth and reveal, what we can now guess as, the eye of the Sharingan.
"Get in Manji formation, min'na. Protect Tazuna at all costs," Kakashi ordered. "And whatever you do, do not engage in this fight. I taught you teamwork, now use it."
We didn't even budge at his words. We were too engrossed in his big reveal that he got everyone in the area roped into, including the person I knew was around, just concealing their chakra.
Kakashi gently raised his headband over his left eye, revealing a vertical scar mark running down the middle of it. That wasn't even the best part. When he opened his eye, it was blazing red with black marks in the iris. It was hauntingly beautiful, an amazing Kekkei Genkai that had resided in Konoha for generations. Now, it so appears that not just one, but two people owned those eyes—or in Kakashi's case, eye.
"Let's fight!" -Kakashi
💙💙💙
The fight hadn't even started much, only Zabuza disappearing and a thick mist surrounding us. We were already in Manji formation, but we had no room for relaxation as the mist slowly concealed our sensei. His last words echoed in my head like a chiming bell, always constant. Don't worry. If we fail, the only thing we lose is our lives.
I grew an irk mark at the thought.
"Being so carefree at a time like this. Why am I only mildly surprised?" -Akoko
Zabuza's voice suddenly rings out around us, a neverending sound that seemed to come from nowhere.
"Eight points. The larynx, the spine, the lungs, the liver, the jugular, the subclavian arteries, the kidneys, and the heart." His voice was deep and shiver-inducing. He sounded like a death incarnate, ready to take away our souls with that cleaver of his. I had no doubt in my mind that he thought of himself that way as well.
"Now," he started, "which one should I use to kill you?"
My teammates were filled with fear, I could feel it. It was leeching off them like a bad stench on a hot day, easily recognizable. Naruto's was visually obvious though, he was literally quivering in his sandals.
Suddenly, a gust of pure chakra spread out, clearing the mist in our area, revealing our sensei who hadn't moved from his original spot. I smirk at him, knowing he was showing off. I looked at my teammates, however, and immediately lost the smirk. Sakura and Naruto were shaking, Naruto-nii more than Sakura, clearly showing they were scared. Sasuke... he had seen better days. His eyes said "kill me" as he gripped his kunai with both his hands as if he were going to stab himself.
"Sasuke!" I shouted, snapping him out of his death-trance. "Daijoubu. Kakashi will protect us." (In this case, "daijoubu" is used as a means to say "it's alright")
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Zabuza said, confidence radiating from right behind me.
Wait... What?!
I turned quickly to see Zabuza crouched low, his sword ready to swing and cleave off all of our heads in one blow. I ducked down and brought my foot up, kicking Zabuza's water clone towards Kakashi who quickly disperses the clone. He stares at me with knowing eyes as Zabuza appears behind him.
"It's over." -Zabuza
"KAKASHI-SENSEI!!! BEHIND YOU!!!!" Naruto-nii shouted.
However, it was all in vain as Zabuza's sword met its mark and cleaved right through Kakashi's torso. He split in two as easy as butter, almost making me feel sympathetic, almost. I grinned as Kakashi's cleaved formed turned to water, spilling on the ground with a quick splash.
"Don't move," Kakashi threatened, holding a kunai to Zabuza's throat. He stood still as a statue, heeding Kakashi's words. "Now it's over."
