"Y/N!" You hear Iris's voice echo through your room. "Aghh!" You scream, panting. "You woke me up! Wait- how'd you get in here?" "That's beside the point. Get dressed! Barry wants to meet you at Jitters." "Why couldn't he have just run over here himself or at least called me?" Iris shrugs. "At least help me get ready? I never know what to wear."
You arrive at Jitters not looking too shabby. Barry has asked you to go out with him once, but it's hard to believe he didn't want to go as friends.
"Hey!" You were aiming for a high-five whereas he was looking for a hug, creating a weird 'handshake-five-hug-wait-no-high five' thing. There's an awkward pause where neither of you speaks, but then Barry says, "What table shall we sit at?" He gesturing to all of the vacant seats. "How about, that one? If we're closer to the barista we'll get our drinks faster. I read an article about it." You suggest. "Alright." He says pulling out your chair.
"I'm gonna go order, care to join me?" Barry asks. "Please, Barry, please stop talking like you're from the 19th century; I really don't know a thing you're saying." Both of you chuckle. You've both shaken off the awkward start. "Can I get a large cappuccino with extra cream and foam? Oh, and can I have a slice of coffee cake too? Thanks." Barry orders and you both sit down.
"Hey, I just wanted to congratulate you saving Cisco yesterday. You really helped." His smile is unbearably-- wide... "No, no, it was really-" his eyes twinkle. "No! It was you! You really need to start giving yourself more credit. You're awesome." You feel your cheeks starting to get hot. Was he trying to flirt. No, you two are just friends.
"One large Cappuccino with extra foam and cream and a slice of coffee cake!" "That'll be me!" You say standing up. "Oh, you again! Smile-" "Shut up. My father is a cop and my-- friend over there? See him? He works for the CCPD too. And my good friend's boyfriend is my father's partner, so I'd keep my mouth shut if I were you." The man looks absolutely flabbergasted.
"Why'd you say Joe was your father?" "He technically is." "Than we'd be..." "Siblings. Yes, your family is weird." Something you said took the twinkle out of Barry's eyes. "Oh my, gosh, did I say something? Barry, I'm so sorry, I never knew. Oh, lord. Barry, geez, I really am sorry." "No, no it's alright." Barry's smiling. You feel like an idiot. "Hey wanna go grab a casual lunch today? Y'know just as friends 'cause like-" Rambling is a bad habit of yours. "Yes. I'd love too."
And Barry is a ripe Blueberry. Also, I'm sorry this chapter kinda sucked, but it's an improvement.
