You turn around and look at the center of the room. You see a giant, green mushroom.
"Well, that's new... " You say as Sinon gets worried.
"New? What do you mean new?" she says as she eyes the mushroom.
"I mean, this boss is new, I've never fought him." You say as you pull out your G36C rifle.
"Ancient Rotten Death Spore?" Sinon said out loud. "I guess that's what it's called."
"No matter what it's called, we'll kill it." You say as you take aim at the mushroom.
You pull the trigger and fire a small burst at the Mushroom. It staggers from the burst but quickly regains it's stance and slams it's head onto the floor releasing some green liquid from the impact zone.
"What is... Ugh! It stinks!" You say as you cover your nose. Sinon chuckles but soon gags slightly as the aroma hits her nostrils.
"Ugh, you're right, I'm glad I don't have to fight that thing... For now at least."
"Yeah, would hate leaving you out of the fun." You say as you sprint foward and rush the mushroom. As you sprint towards it, you see little versions of the boss grow out of the goo and start to attack.
"Whoa! Little shrooms! With legs!" you yell back at Sinon. She chuckles slightly as she watches on. She notices her health bar was almost full so she gets up and takes position.
"I'll cover you!" She yells as she takes aim. You just nodded as you focused back to the mini shrooms.
After dispatching all the mini shrooms with Sinon, you focus back to the mushroom.
"We need to find a way to kill this thing!" Sinon said as she fires at the mushroom with little effect. "My shots are barely doing any damage!"
You look around but find nothing. You shoot it's stem and it reels back. Once it recomposes, you see a huge gash and a yellow light inside.
"Sinon! Shoot the gash!" You yells as she takes aim without question. She takes a deep breath and fires her anti-material rifle through the soft interior of the shroom.
The shroom falls over after Sinons bullet penatrates the entire stem. As it lays there on the ground, you walk over to Sinon and offer her your hand. She takes it as you help her up.
"That was amazing Sinon! You got him! Er... It." you say in enthusiasm. Sinon was about to reply but was interupted by the ground shaking. You and Sinon try to keep your balance but fall onto the ground. You look over at the mushroom and see it is growing to hands made of ours roots. It picks itself up and grows roots to cover it's weak spot. Then, it sticks it's hands into the ground and grows a maze of roots around you and Sinon.
"Oh my... What are we gonna do now?" Sinon said as her shoulder drop.
"I guess we have to find our way to the boss, which is most likely to be in the middle of all this." You say as you point down the path.
"Sounds like a plan to me." Sinon said.
You start to head down the path but soon come to a dead end.
"Oh... Crap." You say as you turn to a snickering Sinon.
"Looks like we need to find another way." Sinon says as she turns and walks back.
"Hmmmm... Take a right, then a left." you say as you start to concentrate.
"Um... OK? Do you have some unknown skill I don't know about?" Sinon says as she takes the right.
"Yeah, it's called Hyper Awareness, let's me dodge any attack once. It also gives me the location of any enemy in the area." you say as you two take left.
"Really? That sounds amazing!" Sinon says
"Nah, I'm playing, I'm just listening out for the bosses movements, I hope it helps us, take another left." you say as Sinon just sighs as your stupidity and takes a left.
Soon the bosses movement and groans become audible.
"We're close." You say as you take a right.
"Good, wanna get this exp." Sinon said as she readies her Hecate. You ready your G36C rifle and prepare to fight the boss. You soon reach an arch of vines and lass under into a natural dome. In the middle you spot the boss.
"Good, now we kill it." you say as you aim and fire at the giant 'shroom. It screeches in pain and more green goo comes out of it. Both you and Sinon wince at the goo but soon realize mushrooms appear from the good. They stand up and spread out the limbs, each with razor sharp claws at the end of their arms.
"Well, that's pretty unnerving." You say as you charge them.
"Wait! What's the plan!?" Sinon yells out to you.
"Improvise!" You yell back as you head shot one mushroom after another. Sinon takes position and begins to do what she does best. She downs mushrooms quicker then can realize as you take down more, soon all seems clear until you feel a sharp pain in your right ankel. You yell in pain as you fall over. You see a huge gash on your left ankel as a mushroom dances around in victory. It's celebrating is cut short by Sinon spliting it's cap in two with a bullet. She runs over to you and looks at the gash.
"See what improvising does? You get hurt."
You were about to say something until the giant mushroom yells in pain. You see the opening open wide as the yellow sack starts beating.
"Forget me for now, take this and kill this Basterd!" You hand her a photon sword grip. Sinon takes the grip and unleashes the light blue photon sword. She sees her opening and charges the giant mushroom. She rams the sword into the weak point and backs up. The sack bursts and covers her in yellow goo. You hear her groan in disgust as the dome disappears and the mushroom disintegrates into the reflective crystals. Sinon cleans off some of the goo and walks toward you. Soon you get your reward.
A/N: Hey guys! It's me! Sorry, I meant to have this chapter out way sooner but I had to rewrite this 4 times so I'm sorry but I hope this long chapter makes up for it. I'll try my best to keep up with this book so expect more updates, but anyways...
