She leaned her chin on her palm and looked at the man sitting opposite her solving her math problems.
"Hey," She called him.
He didn't look at her and continued solving the problem but answered her, "What?"
"I love you."
His hand stopped writting and he whipped his head in her direction; Shock written in his face.
He was about to ask her what again when she spoke first while smiling.
"Practice lang." She reasoned.
He rolled his eyes; Showing annoyance for disturbing him for nothing then continued solving again, this time for y.
Y indeed. He thought.
Once she was sure his attention is back on solving the problem, she dropped her pretense of smiling.
Why did she ever think that falling inlove with this man is not possible for her?
If only she thought it was possible, she would have run away from him as far away as possible before she fall deeper.
But because she didn't and pursued their budding friendship----friendship my a$$, she thought with a scoff and roll of her eyes----she know him perfectly well that the only thing you could ever get from loving an Ian Montfort is heartache and buckets of tears.
Not because he's a Casanova, player, womanizer, playboy, heartbreaker,----or whatever other names you can think of that are synonyms to those words(though he's actually those mentioned)----but because his heart already belongs to someone, and what a shame because it's not her.
She bit her lower lip and turned her face sideways, trying to wipe her tear at the thought.
And'yan ka pala. Akala ko yelo ka e. Dahil sa tinagal-tagal ng panahon, napili mo pang tumibok first time sa taong wawasak din naman sa'yo.
Referring to her heart.
She exhaled loudly.
Seconds later he handed her the papers he was solving.
"Oh, tapos na. Ang dali-dali lang naman, ako pa ang pinasagot mo; Kaya mo naman."
He was about to stand when she asked, "Alis ka na?"
He smiled at her, "I'm going to meet her."
"Ayaw mo muna kumain ng snacks bago umalis?" She asked, finding ways, if not to stop him from meeting her then to atleast let him be late for their meeting. And maybe when he get there, she's already gone, got pretty fed up from waiting too long for him.
But as she was thinking of it, she was already standing and leading him out.
No matter how hard she tried to be the antagonist, she just can't do it.
Maybe it's because she's meant to be the protagonist and not the other way round?
She stared at him while he's looking ahead of them.
Maybe the two of them are meant to be together?
And maybe... Just maybe he actually love her more than as a friend?
Baah. She snickered at her thoughts.
It's just impossible.
What can Ian possibly find in her that will surpass her beauty? Her grace? That every step she takes feels like she's floating in heaven?
The way she burp loudly that can compete with a man? The way every time she walks, there's a disaster coming in her wake if she doesn't really force herself to be careful in each step she takes?
Why, every inch of her screams gentle feminity! And her, what?
Graceless virility!
A complete opposite, right?
So it's just impossible for Ian to love her instead of that woman.
When he opened the door, before going out, he turned to her and asked, "Para sa'n pala 'yung practice mo?" with a scratch on his head.
"Ha? Practice?" Then when she remembered what he was referring to, she instantly thought of a reason to give him.
Ever since she learned that she love him more than a friend could ever give, she found that her mind is running quite fast lately, thinking of reasons to give instantly to questions that might discover of her real feelings for him.
"Yun ba? Ala lang. I'm just preparing myself. Malay mo, nand'yan lang pala ang Mr. Right ko. Kaya pina-practice ko ang pagbigkas. Kailangan ba cute ang pagsabi 'nun? Sexy? Sexy ba ang pagkakasabi ko 'nun?" She made exaggerated sexy poses with pouting lips.
"Yun kasi aim ko." Then she pouted her lips more.
He laughed.
"Sa halip na maakit yung lalaki sa'yo, matatakot siya sa ginagawa mo!" Then he laughed again.
She stopped posing when he laughed. He was busy laughing to notice her, so she didn't mind letting her love for him show in her face.
When seconds already passed by, that seemed like hours for her every time she looks at him with love in her eyes, he stopped from laughing and so did the look she's showing then he smiled at her before going out and closing the door.
With the closing of the door and him gone, going to the love of his life and her standing alone, she clenched her chest across where her vile heart is with her hand.
First lesson from a heartbreak:
When the first time your heart beat irratically for him and also felt an impending doom----that aside from feeling your love for him, you also felt this pain, run away instantly! Take the coward's way and forget that you felt your heart skipped a beat!
In short, WALANG PAG-ASA ang pagmamahal mo sa'kanya kung kaya naman sukuan mo na ang kahibangan mo!
But if you feel like fighting for your love, then don on the greatest and strongest armor your heart could ever have; and prepare boxes of tissues because the pain you just felt when you learned of your love, is nothing to what you're gonna feel in the near future.
Be warned of more heartbreaks to come.
