Blurred Lines

Chapter 15

Emmett picked me up on Friday evening and drove us to Nila's after a quick stop to pick up Andy whose brother had ditched at the mall. We arrived at Nila's house and only she and Skylar were there. Skylar immediately started bothering Andy and making fun of his little mall situation.

"Where's Leila? She's never late." Emmett asked noone in particular. Nila got a sour look on her face that I didn't appreciate at all. "I told her not to come. She's not welcome in my house." She replied. Her statement made Emmett freeze halfway through taking off his shoe and Andy and as I looked at Nila in disbelief. "You have got to be kidding me!" I said to my friend who had clearly lost her mind. "I am not. I will not have her gay ass in my house. If you guys wanna hang out with her, you can move this little shindig elsewhere." I was shocked to say the least. I knew Nila had a problem with Leila but I really hadn't expected it to go that far.

Andy and Skylar had stopped their noisy banter and were also looking at Nila like she had grown n extra head. "Well if that's the case then I guess I'm just going to leave. Enjoy being a bitch by yourself. " I all but spit out at her." As soon as I said this, Emmett started putting his shoes back on whilst Andy and Skylar also made moves to leave. "Oh please Winter, how can you even defend her after what Dylan did to you! Can't you tell that their disgusting habits just ruin everything! " Deciding I couldn't stomach anymore, I just walked straight out the door and waited for the others by Emmett's car. Through the open doors I heard Nila say "Of course you're gonna follow her too, you just do whatever she says and she won't even look at you like anything more than a brother. Enjoy your pining 'Emmy'." Emmett didn't respond and soon all four of us were piling into his car since Skylar had driven with Nila from school.

"I cannot believe Nila is such a huge homophobe! Why didn't we know about this?" Skylar said as we drove off. Andy let out a mysterious laugh that said he knew something we didn't before he simply said, "Don't worry about Nila, she is far from being a homophobe, she's just in denial but I'll knock some sense into her. " Sky and I exchanged confused looks but decided to let it go for then. We all agreed to go to the store and pick up some more junk food before heading to Leila's. Leila's mom opened the door for us and we made our way up to her room. She was wrapped up in her blankets reading a book and lazily eating some liquorice. She looked up at us and her eyes filled with tears but she smiled.

We all piled onto her bed as Emmett immediately went over to the TV area to pick out a movie. Skylar, upon realising his intentions ran over and jumped on his back as they began their age-old quarrel. Andy was already deep into a packet of Doritos and I started setting up some blankets and pillows at the foot of the bed so we could all be comfortable. Sky and Emmett finally picked a movie and we decided to watch it before we'd play a board game.
Andy immediately ran over and plopped himself down and laid his head on my lap, effectively taking up all the space on my makeshift bed. This earned him a scowl from Emmett who just sighed and sat himself between Leila and Sky on the bed who immediately put their feet up on top of his. We spent the night alternating between movies and games until we finally crashed at about 4am.
