Before I could press answer and call out for help, the guy in front of me quickly grabbed my phone.
"hey!" I shouted.
"who's Crystal?" Was all I got in return.
"She's my best friend and my roommate who must've noticed that I'm missing by now after a few hours" I explained.
"That wasn't a few hours, we took you at about 6pm last night, it's now 1 O'clock in the afternoon. You've been out for quite a while" he said.
I've been out for more than twenty hours?!
"Wait WHAT?!" I raised my voice.
"It doesn't matter now, just answer the phone and tell her you won't come back for a while and make up a believable excuse so she doesn't go to the police and if you tell her what actually happened......... well let just say I've got a gun and I'll take back what I said about not hurting you or killing you. And put it on speaker." He threatened me.
I gulped hard as he handed me back my phone. I press answer and then the button where it said speaker.
"Hey Crystal" I said nervously
"Oh my God Alexa! Where have you been? Are you ok? What's going on?" She said in a panicked voice.
I glance at the guys who were watching me like a bloody hawk. The one in front of me...... hmmm let's just call him Mr. Punch for now until I find out his actual name, had his arms cross to his chest staring down at me with dead serious expression. Then I took a deep breath and turned my attention back to the phone.
"Calm down Crystal, everything is ok, I'm fine. Everything is fine"
"Then where on earth are you?"
"um.......... Well....... I didn't get a chance to buy your chocolate yesterday.... Because while I was walking I ran in to my aunt and uncle who happen to be on a vacation here in New York City. So we talked... a lot and they ask me to go travelling with them for a couple of weeks. Which I insisted at first but....... Heh, heh....... You know how family are. So I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier and I should've called and that I didn't go back to the apartment.... it was kind of a last minute thing I guess. So I'll be gone for a while. I'm so so sorry Crystal I never meant to leave you alone or to let you worry and I should have called you as soon as it happened, but I couldn't" I hated lying to her but if I don't then I'd have a bullet through my head and she'd probably get killed before going to the police as well.
I heard a sigh from the other line.
"It's OK don't worry about it. I'm glad you're alright. Don't forget to buy me some nice outfits and when you get back you are sooooo paying the 3 months' worth of apartment bills" She said.
"Yeah" my expression saddens. If I ever get back.
"I just can't believe I'm going to be alone in the apartment, all by myself" She whined
"I know and I'm sorry for that, but whatever you do, DO NOT in any circumstances watch horror movies, sleeping or bringing random guys over" I warned her.
"Relax Alexa no one is stupid enough to watch horror movies when they're all alone in an empty apartment. But sleeping and bringing random guys over? I make no promises to that one. Just because you're still a virgin doesn't mean I have to be too. May I remind you I lost my virginity 3 years ago? Seriously you really need to get laid before you turn thirty and 18 is a great year to lose your virginity" she said.
My eyes widened, my cheeks started to turn bright red. I bit my lips and looked around the rooms. This was so embarrassing, there were eight guys and not to mention they were all pretty hot in the room right now and they were either smirking or amused.
" CRYSTAL!! What the hell is wrong with you? Arghhh! first of all I don't want you bringing random guys over because they're RANDOM guys and you don't even know them and I don't want them to know where we live because that's really dangerous." Huh how ironic "Second of all don't sleep with random guys at least get to know them first before sleeping with them. And lastly we already talk about this I want to find the right guy and preferably DO it when I'm at least 21. Not some one-night stand thing" I gritted my teeth.
I tried to ignore the fact that there were guys in the room listening to our very weird conversation. Trust your best friend to embarrassed you in front of guys.
"Yeah, yeah whatever you say. Maybe you can find your Mr. right while you're travelling with your aunt and uncle. Oh and Alexa before you hang up I need to tell you something" Her voice turned serious when she said the last part.
"what is it? Did something happen?" I said with a concern expression
"Last night I thought it would be fun to call some people we haven't talk to in ages so I talked to Hannah, Nina and a bunch of other girls and then I talked to Taylor- "
"Is this going to go anywhere?" I asked, getting impatient.
"No wait you need to hear this, it's important" She answered back.
"Ok fine but quickly get to the point, I really don't have all day" thinking of the guys in the room.
"Right, anyway she said some guys went missing about a year and a half ago in Australia"
Australia was where I spend most of my life. I was born in America but when I was 3 years old my parents migrated to Australia, so I lived and went to school there.
"What guys? A year and a half ago? What has that got to do with anything?" I was confused
"Do you remember the high school we went to before we moved to a girl school in 9th grade? They were the guys from there, we even went to primary school with them"
"Crystal that almost was five years ago, what guys are talking about?"
"I mean the guys we used to hang out with. You know, James Michaelson, Blake Collins, Ash Parker, Ryker Foster, Scott Marshall, Celeb Hunter and that guy who you hated so much what was his name?"
"You mean Eric Stiles the guy who used to bully me?" I said
"Yeah him, they all went missing one by one, a year and a half ago."
"oh my god, does anyone know what happen to them?" even though it was a long time ago, I still remembered them and how we used to hang out together.
"Everyone thought they were dead, which made sense. It been almost two years and they're still missing and no one know what happened to them. I mean seven guys all went missing one by one a day or a week at a time and they're all friends, it's pretty strange. Man, I'm actually going to miss them even though we haven't seen them in years" she explained
"Yea, I remember them; they were great friends and pretty fun to hang out with even if sometimes they were pretty annoying and some were jerks. I just never thought something like this would happen, it's so sad" I said thinking back to the memories.
"Yeah I know................hey can I call you later? I need to go to this stupid part time job you left me with" her words full of sarcasm.
"yeah sure, I'll call you later" I hanged up.
I realised all the guys were still here and looked up at them. Their expression full of surprise and shock even Mr. Expensive suit looked at me like I was a ghost who's about to rip their heads off...... well not literally but you get what I mean.
"What?" I asked feeling annoyed
"Alexa Evans?!" one of them said.
Crystal only said my first name but never mention my last name. How did they know my full name?
