I hurried along. Finally, the end of school. Hallelujah! I thought I'd never leave. I looked down, at a small piece of paper, with Gabby's number on it. I stared at it, before bumping into someone. He grunted in surprise. Oh god. It was the boy from this morning. I looked up at him, eyes widened. "I'm sorry-" He started to laugh. I was confused. "What?"
"The look on your face!" He pretended to wipe away a tear. "Woo, thanks for the laugh, rat." He grinned. I gave him a cold look. "I'm not a rat!" He raised an eyebrow, looking me up and down. "Look like one to me. And smell like one." I retorted with, "Oh, please. Your just jealous that I smell better then you ever could." I took pleasure in the look he had on his face, dumbfounded.
I smiled, trying to get around him, but he blocked my path. I looked up at him. "Uh? Your blocking my way, pal." That set him off. "Don't call me that. I'm not your pal, nor will I ever be, you rat." I rolled my eyes at how stupid he was. "Okay, 'pal'," I smirked, being a smartass, "Can you move please?"
He pretended to think, then shrugged. "Sorry, no can do." I crossed my arms. "Oh? Why is that? Enlighten me." He was starting to piss me off, but I wasn't gonna say that out loud. "Because your a rat. And you know what they do with rats." He had a cheeky grin.
I was confused, but replied with a sassy remark. "Aww, is that your cute little pet name for me? I mean, you do have a boyfriend- oh my mistake, I meant 'girlfriend'." I smirked at his taken aback look. Instead, he shook his head and laughed.
"Man, you are desperate, aren't you?" He said, looking at me. "What?" I blinked, confused as usual. "You're obviously trying to flirt with me!" He said, as if it were the most obvious thing ever. "I mean, I'm flattered and all, but I have a girlfriend, and I'm out of your league." He winked, smiling. After a moment, I started to laugh really hard. He crossed his arms. "You really think I'm flirting with you?!? God, you're so full of yourself." I laughed until my stomach start to hurt.
He rolled his eyes. "Such a freak. What's your actual name, rat?" He asked. I raised an eyebrow. "Why should I tell you?" He let out a sigh, and said, "So I can know your name, while teasing you." I let out a noise. "Teasing is an understatement. Bullying is more like it."
He shrugged. "Teasing, bullying. It's all the same thing." My jaw dropped. "So you admit you've been doing it!" He smiled and replied, "Well, duh. What, you think I'm going to be one of those wimpy kids saying 'What?! No I wasn't!'" I looked down and replied quietly, "Kinda..." He laughed. "Man, you don't know me at all, rat." He said, grinning.
"Yeah, you're right. I don't! This is my first day." I said a bit too loudly. Before he could say anything else, I said, "I'm Valerie." He blinked. "Eli." I gave only a ghost of a smile. "Hello, Eli. Well, I have to go now. See you later."
Just as I was turned, he said, "Wait!" I spun around. "What?" He asked, "Can I have your number?" My heart started to hammer in my chest. What the? Oh stop it! I thought. I smirked, and said "Jeez we just met. And you have a girlfriend remember?" He turned pale. "I know! It's just... I might need help on a question of homework."
I thought for a second, then said, "Um, I'll think about it. But I'll give you my Instagram in the meantime, so we can message one another!" He nodded, agreeing. So, I gave him my Instagram, and he requested to follow. I accepted, and waved, walking away. I made a new friend! I grinned. Maybe it won't be that bad after all.
