Animals are a part of many stories. Including them is alright. As pets or as characters is alright. As characters, they might have a personification of a human. This is a fantasy based description to a creature is an acceptable action.
But there is a fine line about animals I hope to clarify:
1. Wild animals are wild in nature. Don't think they will be completely tame. After all, ignoring this fact has gotten so many tamers killed in real life.
2. Animals have to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom. This could explain their absence. But doing it too much, might say medical problems.
3. Don't assume that an animal will do what your characters want it to do. Sometimes they get bored or tired. It happens. Animals have their own motivations.
Anyways this is all I have to share with you all, the readers.
