I ran as hard and fast as I could away from the noise of the sirens and the glare of the lights. I couldn't get caught, but where could I go? It's not like anybody knew what I was doing. I hadn't told anyone so they couldn't get in trouble. I was screwed. I could go to so many peoples' houses but no one would let me hide out-except maybe Luke. He would let me stay at his place. I pumped my arms and legs in the direction of Luke's house. I took as many back allies as possible so the cars couldn't follow me. My breathing was coming hard and short out of my mouth. I could hardly see where I was running; I knew the route of by heart. I rounded the final corner and practically knocked down the front door. Luke took his time opening it.
"Y/N what are you doing out so late?"
"No time. Let me in," I puffed at him.
Luke moved aside to let me in. I started leading myself up to his room; Luke followed behind. One of the best things about Luke was that he didn't ask questions if he knew he wasn't going to get an answer. Once we were in his room, I shut and locked the door and window. Luke was sitting on his bed.
"So...care to explain?"
I couldn't tell him the whole truth cause he would get in trouble too.
"Lets just say that I upset some people and the cops are after me."
"Jesus Y/N!"
I shrugged my shoulders. There was nothing I could do now; I'd already done enough. Luke looked quite furious and confused. I was often in trouble and he rarely knew why. I didn't like telling people what I was going to do; they would probably try to stop me.
"You're going to stay here until it at least settles down. Whatever this is," Luke said as he paced his room. "You're probably not going to tell me what you do-you never do-but you can stay. Just try not to get me involved too much."
"Thank you!" I bundled Luke into a hug he half returned.
"You tire me Y/N. Slow down every once in a while."
"I'll try."
"You take the bed, I'll take the floor," Luke said yawning.
"Okay. Thank you soooo much for letting me stay!"
"Yeah," Luke mumbled tiredly. "I just don't want you getting in trouble for whatever you did."
I just stared at him blankly.
"I care what happens to you Y/N."
I still didn't say anything.
"Just because you're best friends with my ex girlfriend, doesn't mean I don't care what happens to you. Speaking of which, why didn't you go to her house?"
"She wouldn't let me stay in case she got in trouble."
"So you came here knowing that I would take care of you?"
"Kinda."
Luke came over to me and pulled me into a hug. He held her tight. Just as I was letting go, he held me tighter. I was safe here.
Well, at least for tonight.
