Maka and Soul sat on their couch in the living room, thinking about the mission, and their sudden change in relationship. Yet they didn't speak. The fact that Maka could have suddenly disappeared had her plane not been delayed was disturbing to think about, and it unnerved Soul that someone was able to somehow manage to make an entire plane disappear. What happened to it, and all of its passengers? How can it suddenly be taken off the radar?
"I think we should meet with our friends and discuss these events," Maka said, finally breaking the silence.
Soul slid his gaze to her, mouth drawn in a thin line. She stared back at him, awaiting a reply, but also understanding his silence. Their situation was worrying, definitely. All those people disappearing without a trace, on a plane that somehow became undetectable? Was there a malfunction with their radar? Could there be someone who is an ATC that's helping with the crime? But yet, wouldn't the ATC know that the plane they took was the wrong one? There was so much to think about.
"I guess we should," he replied. "I would think that Kidd talked to his dad about it. He should have some ideas of his own, or something."
"Maybe." Maka stood up and stretched, feeling Soul's gaze linger on her form. She tried to ignore the tingling feeling trickling throughout her body. "I'll call them and—what?"
Soul had wrapped his hand around her wrist, which confused her. Then he stood up, and pulled her towards him. She stumbled, but was steadied by her weapon, who cupped her face and kissed her gently, softly, intimately. She was shocked for only a moment before she relaxed, kissing him back with what she hoped was reassurance, letting him know that she was here, and didn't plan on going anywhere else. She placed her hands on his chest, not pushing him away, but simply resting there. Then Soul slowly moved one of his hands lower, down her neck, her arm, and slid to the small of her back, pulling her closer. His other took hold of the back of her head and tilted it to the side to deepen the kiss. His tongue lightly tapped at the seam of her lips, and she opened them, inviting him to explore her more, to revel in her presence. Her hands slid up to rest on his shoulders, her fingers beginning to lightly fist the material of his shirt.
When he began to lead her to the wall, the memory of what happened several hours ago came to mind, and she felt this...this thrill all over, this weird tingling feeling from earlier running up and down her body. And when her back met the wall, she also thought that perhaps Soul had a thing for it. But her mind went blank when she felt his hands go under her shirt, one trailing up her back, the other up her stomach, resting right under her bra. She felt wonderful, excited, beautiful, even, but she also felt hesitant. How far did he want to go? Was he willing to go all the way in one day? After just confessing? She didn't feel ready for it, not yet. However, she was confident that if she told him to stop, he would. Because Soul was not like most men.
Once again, he removed his hands from their spot and grabbed her legs, lifting them to wrap them around his waist. His lips moved from her own to her jaw, her ear, her throat. His tongue left a warm, wet trail on her skin, and she shivered with delight. She moaned lightly when she felt his sharp teeth gently bite the skin of her neck, then he gently sucked at the spot, his tongue sweeping over the reddened skin. His hands began to wander once more, gliding over warm, slightly sweaty skin under her clothes, and she, too, explored him, her hands having moved from his shoulders to under his shirt, feeling a few drops of sweat trickle to her fingers. The higher she went, the more she could feel a quick pulsing beneath her hand, until finally it moved over his heart, where it was the most noticeable. Her finger moved over his nipple, and he stiffened, pulling his head back from her neck to rest on her shoulder. She felt kind of bad, felt like he was trying so hard to restrain himself. But then he simply wrapped his arms around her, embracing her, and after placing a kiss on the side of her head, he nuzzled his face into her neck, breathing in the scent of her skin.
She was unprepared for this sudden turn, but embraced him too. She heard him mumble into her neck, felt his voice vibrate against her skin. "What, Soul?"
He angled his head downwards, so his mouth wasn't muffled. "I was terrified," he said, and her eyebrows raised in surprise. He spoke before she could ask. "I had turned on the T.V. and the news was on, since that's what you usually watched. When it said that that plane had suddenly disappeared, I...I was terrified. I was angry. I was..." he sighed instead of finishing.
She brought one hand up to rest on the back of his head, combing through his hair soothingly. She smiled slightly. "You're not usually so uncool," she jested, and she felt him turn his head back into her neck, felt him smirk into her skin. They stayed like that for a few minutes, in the comfort of each other's presence, until Soul finally pulled back. He took one of her hands, intertwining their fingers, and opened his mouth to speak when there was a sudden pounding on their door.
"HEY, GUYS, OPEN UP FOR YOUR GOD!"
They sighed at the sound of Black Star's loud and obnoxious voice, but were slightly relieved when they heard the voices of their other friends scolding him for being so childish. Soul smirked at Maka, making her blush at his attention. "W-What?"
He tapped the bruised spot on her neck with his finger. "I'd say to cover up that magnificent hickey but to be honest I like looking at it." Her face flushed even more. She pushed him away and turned to run to her room, but he grabbed her arm and quickly pulled her back, placing a chaste kiss on her lips. "Okay, you can go now."
She turned again, hurrying to her room, all the while Soul could here her muttering "damn Soul and his shark teeth" on the way. He grinned and started heading for the door, but didn't reach it before Black Star banged on it again and started shouting once more. He opened it a second after that, glaring at Black Star.
"Why are you looking at me like that? You shouldn't keep your god waiting when he demands your presence."
"We have neighbors, dude. We don't need noise complaints." Soul stepped aside and let the gang in. "So what's up guys?"
Kidd spoke first. "We thought it would be a good idea to meet up and discuss the situation. It's important we lay out our thoughts and, if possible, some strategies."
"Kim and her team are meeting, as well," Tsubaki said. "She and Jackie came over to our place to tell us that we should meet with our teams, and on the day of our departure, talk about what we all came up with."
"I think it's dumb, because clearly all we need is ME!" Black Star gave everyone a big grin, but it was not returned. "I'm a god, what more do you want?"
"Black Star, the only one close enough to being a god is Kidd." Maka piped in. She walked out of the little hallway and into the living room. Her change of clothes only consisted of a different shirt, which was a black turtleneck, covering the hickey that Soul had bestowed upon her. Her hair was down, and brushed, no longer frizzy and tangled from their passionate embrace earlier. Her usual skirt remained unchanged. She had this certain glow that everyone noticed, even Soul. He thought it might give away something to their friends.
"Something is different, here," said Black Star, eyeing his green-eyed friend.
She stared at him warily, arms crossed over her chest. "I'm wearing a shirt I don't usually wear?" She offered.
"No, no, something else..." He continued to scrutinize her, then suddenly snapped his fingers. "You pigged out on food, didn't you? I think you look a little fatter than bef—fuck!" Black Star was knocked backwards by the force of her book that had flown across the room into his face. Maka was steaming.
"You deserved that one," Liz said, looking down at his bleeding face. "You clearly do not know the basics of talking to a woman."
Tsubaki had given Maka a knowing look, accompanied with a small smile, and Maka blushed only slightly before getting back to the subject at hand. "Well, let's start talking, then."
