The next morning I wake up to the sound of Katie singing. Im still on the couch, but the kitchen and living room are silent. 'Oh right' i say painfully reminding myself that today is dad’s funeral. I get up from the couch and head to the bathroom where Katie is singing in the bath tub. “Hi.” I say smiling at her leaning on the door frame, still trying to wake up. “Hello sissy!” She replies scrunching her nose up as she smiles. I slowly walk back down to my room the get ready. I walk over to my desk to see my calendar which read, “Wednesday the 26th of May.” I say the date to myself aloud. I sigh and walk over to my closet and start to get ready for the funeral, while helping my sister and mum.

We head off in the car to the funeral, getting a few weird stares from people that go to my school. No one knows that my dad passed away, nor do they know today is his funeral. I was confused as to why I wasn’t crying, I don’t think it had actually hit me yet. The funeral came and went, many tears and funny memories were shared. The service went for 3 hours, where we even went out into the cemetery to burry my father. There was also a small service after where lunch was provided, but hardly anyone ate. Mum, Katie and I decided it was finally time to go home. The night went quickly, and of course I lay alone in my bed, crying myself to sleep.

The next morning, mum decided to let Katie and I have the rest of the week off school, it was also good because I got a break from most of the drama. It rained over the next few days, so ended up watching a lot of movies and eating a heap of junk food. Mum confiscated my phone for the rest of the week because she knew sometime was going on. At least I have a password that she doesnt know. I would hate for her to read my text messages.
