The hallway of Hath high school was lit with only one flickering light. I walked down it scarcely, gripping my notebook to the point of bending it. I try to walk faster but its no use I'm scared out of my mind. The hallway, during the day, looked beautiful the tiles were bright red and peach and the walls, painted blue, would shine every day ,all day. But at night the tiles looked blood stained and rotten, which ironically represented our small town school a lot better, the walls looked as if they were painted a corpse gray. Revolting and stomach-churning was the cafeteria without the sunshine to light its yellow walls like fire in the middle of forest.
When I finally approached the tall metal framed door I push it to life with my frail ghostly arms. Making my way to the second pair of metal doors I suddenly stopped remembering it was only 8:00 it would be another hour before she picked me up. I had come to the high school for practice, usually we had practice from 4-6 on Mondays -Wednesdays but today,Thursday at 8pm, I had received a text at 7:40 saying to be here immediately. I came quickly, only to find no one and be forced to wait an hour before I could leave.
Crash! Something large fell behind me I jump a little and turn scarcely. Joan bends down very slowly picking up a mop while also maintaining complete eye contact with me. I smile and wave awkwardly, she continues to just stare at me until the wall separates our gaze. I sigh. Bang! Bang! Bang! I whip around to see nothing. I approach the glass door peering out but still, nothing but the reflection of a scared face. I laugh a little and open the towering door. Its cold but not cold enough to keep me inside. I check the time,8:05. So slow it seems like its 8:40,I think,I'll stay in a little longer. Closing the door I look around for a place to sit, there's two cold marble bench's outside and one green plastic one 4 feet from the heater. I sit and set my stuff at my feet. I have nothing to do except wait. I don't understand why Mr.Levi texted me to come at this hour or why no one is here except creepy Joan but I try not to think about it though I'm usually very calm and collected but at night especially here and now I get so frightened of the things I can't see or comprehend.
More banging, I look quickly to find again the two marble bench's outside. I change my focus to my blue button up shoes. I had gotten them from a tiny shop in town called smiths which was owned by a foul smelling old man. More banging this time I don't look, scared to see nothing there and scared of the mysterious banging. It gets louder the more I resist until everything goes quiet the clock striking 9 on the wall, my phone sitting next to me, the mysterious banging and even my moms car. I see it pull up and I mean to get up but I feel stuck, glued to this plastic green bench I clench my fist angry with myself for not moving. I can't hear her scream and shout for me, I can't hear her honk or come running the door trying to open it, but I can hear the banging I can feel it too.
"Get out! We have to leave now!" I hear my mother shout as I regain my hearing. I turn and see my short mother and her cherry red face,"Ok!" I yell back I don't know why I was so worried.
I tremble as I gather my things and head out the door. I talk to my mom about work and school in the car after she's done yelling at me. Riiiiiiiiinnnnnng! Rinnnnnnnnnggg! I look down. Mom. What the hell why does it say mom I'm with her. We slow down and turn. It rings two more times before I answer.
"Hello?"
" Yea I'm here." My mother says in a sweet voice.
"What?..I....i don't understand?" I look up as we roll to a stop we're out of town in a parking lot I look over to see a black ghastly face.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
