Chapter 21

3rd POV

3 Days back.

  Fran was worrying rumours began circling around the court that Henri had been kidnapped by 2 maids. She knew the real reason behind the rumours but nonetheless she couldn't tell no one even her husband who she had never kept a secret from the truth of their whereabouts. She was mad at Allie but she knew that because she was pregnant it would've only slowed them down for their destination. However, she is truly happy that Allie left her because she was claiming her crown; returning to her family and that all she wanted for Allie after finding her. Fran was kind of glad she wasn't entirely useless since Allie left because in the letter she had left under her pillow when she woke. Allie told her that her role was to make sure that Valarie and Mikayla stay clear of one another. Allie had thought about her consequences and she was tying loose ends and leaving the important task with Fran. The only problem with the situation was Charles as he kind of knew Allie's secret but wasn't fully aware of the entire story. 

 As she left her room to go for a walk with another lady she had promised, she witnessed something peculiar. She saw from down the hall that it was the man that Allie told her about, Conde and he was having a suspicious conversation with none another than Valarie. People would usually look at this and think nothing but 2 royals having a warm talk but to Fran it worried her because they seemed too friendly as if they old friends. So she decided investigate their conversation as it seems that they have notice or acknowledge her present near them.

 Then she hid behind the wall so that she could hear them more clearly. '...are you sure Louis? How can you be sure it's my sister.' Immediately Fran knew but she held her gasp in so that she could hear the rest.

 'Yes Val. It's her she looks exactly like her mother and what's worst is she has built a relationship with the King. Then we maybe in trouble. We must warn your mother that she is alive or all that we have fought for will be gone. Conquering France, Italy and us on the thrones together.' He said. 'I know, my love we must I am worried because if we can't do this right we may have to pay the price with our lives. Disposing of that wretch is our main priority. Do you know where she is?' 

 'Yes. A servant told me she ran off with Prince Henri and another woman. Heading likely to the Italian boarders.' 

 'Henri? Why would he ran off with her? Doesn't make sense.' She told Conde. 'Must have his own reasons for leaving but we shouldn't focus on that. Me and some of my guards will head out and go after them. I need you to make sure that your mother knows what's going on. Also, I need you to distract Charles as well make him believe you want this marriage.' 

She nodded at him and with that said they both shared a brief kiss before heading in different directions. Fran is shocked. Those two are lovers. 

Fran's POV

I frantically knocked on the door waiting the person to open the door. Then the door opened and there they were standing with a very annoyed face.

'What do you want.

'I need your help. Please I beg you it's my friend she's in trouble.'

'What's that got to do with me.'

'Everything if France is going to be safe.' With that said I was gladly let into the room.

'France is danger explain.' 

'Conde is planning to takeover this kingdom with Valarie. If they are going to succeed then they must get rid of all threats that stand in their way. 'Please I beg you Your Majesty to help me.'

'I don't believe you at all. Why would Princess Valarie go that far when she has been offered a place as the Queen of France. It's an honour. Now leave.' Next thing I know I was being pushed out of the door. Eventually they did but before the door closed I said 'I know where your son is. Prince Henri and if you won't speak to me I believe that his life maybe in danger.'

With that said the door opened again and I was let in. 'What do you mean Henri is in trouble. You know where he is.' I nodded 'Yes.'

'Tell me where.' I didn't reply.

'Answer me do you know that I am Catherine De Medici and my son's life it's at risk because of this girl.'

'Yes he is heading to Italy with my best friend so that she may reclaim her title again.'

'Oh Lord. The missing Queen she was here the whole time. Who was she?' She said.

'Um...a maid before she got fired before she became my lady-in-waiting' I told her.

'Wait you mean the one dancing with both my sons at the ball a couple of weeks ago.' I nodded 'I had a feeling she was familiar.' She said in realization. I looked at her  confused because Allie and her have never even cross paths in their lifetimes. 'You know her?'

'Not personally but her late mother was a good friend and distant cousin of mine. She looks very much like her, but I am a fool for not even realizing the resemblance between the two of them.'

'Yes the do look like each other. I need your help to find them because they might both end up dead.' 

'If it's for family then I will gladly help but this must be discreet and you mustn't tell anyone what we are doing especially your husband and the King. I have seen that Charles has a soft spot towards her and if he knew he will go and find her even if it's risking his life.' 

'Of course, Your Majesty. How are we going to do this?' 

'You are going to become very good friends with the Princess and I am going to go with some of the guards and scout for my son and niece.' She wants me to be friends with that...bitch. 'Alright I will try but I know for a fact that she is a very difficult person to be friends with as she handpicks her ladies to ensure secrecy and safety at all times.'

'I think I might have a remedy for that.' she then walked over to the fire place and push a brick in and immediately a box popped out. Then she opened it very carefully using a handkerchief as she looked through it. She pulled it out a bottle and looked at me 'This a potion which will cause someone to be delirious for good couple of hours but I like to use this as a truth serum because the person can reveal anything when in this state.'

I looked at her flabbergasted 'You want me to poison her. I can't. I won't. It's treason' I frantically told her.

'You are doing nothing compared to what she and that bastard Bourbon are doing. They will pay with their lives for the heinous crime of stealing nations and the Pope will even sign to that.' 

She is right. What they are doing is out of greed and power for themselves. They have no love for the people or care for the countries. They are going to be the tyrants of Europe if they aren't stopped especially the Empress as she is the mastermind behind all of this.

'So how are we going to do it?

Sorry guys I didn't upload on the weekend even though majority of it was written then. Coursework is a priority gotta get an A or B to do well in the Exams. Anyway next chapter will Allie/Lexa's journey to Italy. Will Charles find out what's going on with an encounter with Fran? How will he react? Until next time.
