Emma scuffed her shoes against the grind of the fairly modern Storybrooke streets, she couldn't stop thinking about Regina, it didn't help that earlier that day Zelena had given her hope, made her think that there was going to be a near future for her and the brunette, and that's something she could never let her heart think, it would surely break. Suddenly the sound of police sirens came from behind where the blonde was walking, she jumped slightly the last time she heard police sirens she was being arrested, the worst day of her life that led her to fond the best thing in her life funnily enough. Emma looked round, hoping that Regina's mum, the Mayor, hadn't found some outrageous reason to lock her up again and from the stories she had heard, that's something Cora wouldn't even hesitate about doing. A tall, good-looking, bearded man stepped out of the Sheriff's car, wearing the badge as well as anyone of the actors in the old wild west movies that Emma secretly loved so much.

"Emma Swan?" The man questioned as he approached the blonde questioningly, not sure he had the right person even though the town was small enough and people talked enough for anyone, even a total stranger, to know who Emma Swan was.

"Yeah, that's me what can I do for you?" Emma asked, she had enough run-ins with the law to last her a life time and some, and she couldn't be run out of town now, for two reasons, one, her probation officer says she needs to stay put for the next month because of the whole early release and pregnant drama, and two, Regina apparently asked Emma to stay for her, and Emma would.

"Are you still looking for a job while your in town?" The Sheriff as crossing his arms, he obviously thought this made him look more important than it actually did, unbeknown to him he just looked like a pouty teenager, but Emma wasn't going to point that out, that's for sure. The last time she checked the police department didn't go around advertising jobs, maybe this was a small towns thing and she had just never noticed when she was a kid. Emma nodded in response, she hated living of the money her mum and dad made, it felt like she had travelled back in time, right back to her childhood, which had good memories few and far between.

"Well I have a deputy position open" The Sheriff paused, "If you're interested" He finished, looking at Emma who was surprised at the least at this offer, since when did they allow ex-cons to patrol the streets in a police car.

"I'll have to think about it" Emma said wary to set down roots in town that she hatred and so despratley wanted to leave well alone, getting this job could prevent her from doing that, the Sheriff just scoffed gentley, as he raised his eyebrows, like he was expecting that answer.

"Yeah well call me when you have an answer" The Sheriff said in a tired voice handing over what looked like an old school business card, that read: Sheriff Graham Humbert. Emma frowned slightly, she recognised that name from somewhere, but she couldn't quite place where from.

"Do we know each other?" Emma asked, scanning his face, hoping that might trigger something inside her brain to make her remember, knowing her luck he would have been one of her many one night stands in the city, heres hoping not that could get awkward. Fast. Graham smiled, shaking his head slightly.

"We went to school together, until you moved away" Graham said trailing off at the end, Emma gasped slightly as the realisation hit her, of course how could she have forgotten about Graham, he was one of those outsiders that nobody really like, but boy had puberty hit him like a truck, Emma should have been nicer to him at school.

"Why me, for this job why not someone that you actually like and know well?" Emma asked as Graham started to walk back to his police car, he opened the door turning back to look at Emma before stepping in.

"You have some powerful friends in this town Emma, this is a favour for one of them" He explained before driving off in the direction of the mayors house, she furrowed her eyebrows, what friend was that? Emma pondered that question for the rest of the day, glancing to Graham's card every once in a while, truth be told she never really knew what she wanted, she hadn't even talked to the potential fathers of her soon to be baby after moving in to the town, her plan was as soon as her probation was over to leave Storybrooke behind her and go somewhere where the past could never catch up with her, but that would mean leaving the chance, the dream of being with Regina behind to and Emma wasn't sure if she could commit to that.
