Poem About the Storm

The lines are filled and we wait,

A gloom over our heads making us wonder is there will be a storm

Then, there's a flash.

Then a rumble.

We look at eachother and start to move away,

Towards the meet up place for hours later.

I am terrified.

The thunder sends a shiver down my spine

And the lightning makes my mouth to dry.

One girl asks, "Why is everyone leaving?" In her annoying voice.

I glare at her.

I ask her is she wants to die.

She leaves with us, slightly scared of me.

We run into the nearby store where I see my friend run into.

I go to him, slightly scared,

He hugs me and tells me it'll be okay.

I look towards my trip partners.

The girl smiles reassuringly,

not knowing of my fear of lightning,

The boy looks at me worriedly.

He is my Ex boyfriend.

He knows of my fear.

I look away in hopes if them not seeing.

I find a spot against the wall and tell them to join me,

And we sit quietly.

I wish for my girlfriend to be here to comfort me.

I wan to go home.

I want to feel safe.

When will the storm end?

I look outside at the falling rain

And see people running to escape it.

As the rain lessens,

And the the wind as well,

People clear out.

But we stay.

We stay huddled in our corner of safety,

The scents of Cinnamon Rolls wafts through the air,

Somewhat soothing to my fearful mind.

I relax slightly.

Knowing I will soon be over.
