The boy grabbed a pack of cigarettes and hopped out the window, feeling the early December air on his bruised skin.

The boy was wearing a black tank top (an unusual choice but he had no clean clothes) and a pair of jeans. He felt himself shiver and his skin formed goosebumps. But he didn't care, he was free.

Eddie walked down Jackson avenue as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. He breathed in light grey smoke and inhaled it further into his system. The boy walked past Beverly's house but at the time didn't know it was her house.

"Eddie?" He heard a girl's voice ask and he jumped in shock, his first thought was that it was his mom, but he soon realized it was a young girls voice.

"Hullo?" The boy asked into the darkness that surrounded him. Then all of a sudden Beverly walked into the visible light that radiated from a street lamp, Eddie smiled.

"Oh hey, didn't see ya there," the boy said as he took a longer drag from the cigarette that rested between his fingers.

"What are you doing out this late? Richie told us you were grounded," Beverly asked as she stepped closer to Eddie.

"Yeah I am, but Technically I'm not grounded if she's asleep" the boy pointed out and she nodded in agreement.

"Mind if I tag along in your night stroll you decided to take?" She asked with a smile.

"Sure, what are you doing outside?" Eddie asked as they set off away from bevs house and into the darkness.

"Oh just..family issues. " she whispered and Eddie looked at her in shock. He never knew the girl also had home issues just like him and Richie.

"Yeah I know, surprising right? Just sometimes Its like everything's piling up too much and I can't breathe at all, so I come out here." She said and the boy knew exactly how she felt. He knew too well.

"Me too, especially when I'm not even allowed to leave the house anymore" Eddie whispered as he finished off his first cigarette. He pulled out a new one and offered another to Bev, she took it happily.

"Hey let's sit here, my asthmas acting up," Eddie suggested and Beverly sat down on the curb.

"Alrighty wheezy," she said and Eddie let out a laugh.

"So I heard you and Richie met up last night" Bev said and she raised her eyebrows at him. The boy turned bright red.

"Oh god... He told you about that?" He said feeling quite embarrassed.

"Hey, don't worry about it. Richie had a good time with you, he was so happy that morning he needed to tell someone." She said and the boy smiled.

"Plus me and Richie tell each other everything" she said and she pet eddies head and ruffed up his hair. The boy laughed.

"Yeah, this is all kinda new to me, ya know? The whole boyfriend thing and the whole having actual friends thing," he said "I forgot that friends share things."

"You didn't have friends before us?" She asked and Eddie shook his head.

"Me neither, I had nobody before I met the group" she said.

"So, what's the deal with you and Richie? Cause I know he really likes you" she asked and eddies stomach did a flip hearing Richies name.

"He really likes me?" The boy asked feeling himself turn red. "Well.. I really like him too"

Beverly smiled.

"So what's the dealio with you and Bill huh? I remember you guys hooked up at Richies house the other night." Eddie asked.
(YALL HOOKING UP MEANS MAKING OUT it doesn't not mean Sex lmao)

"Ohhh yeah, I don't really know to be honest. I mean, we've known each other for so long, and I do like him, but..." Beverly started to say, but she didn't really know where she way going.

"You guys should totally date," the boy responded and Beverly felt herself turn red.

"What if he doesn't like me that much?" She asked and Eddie rolled his eyes.

"Oh please, it's so obvious he likes you Beverly, just ask him out already!" He shouted while smiling.

"Ok, I'll do it!" And with that the matter was solved.

The two sat on the curb and talked for a while. Eddie told Beverly his storied about Frank and how he would hit him. Beverly told Eddie about her father, and how he still hits her.

"If you feel trapped, we can meet here at midnight again alright?" Eddie said as he wiped a tear away from bevs cheek.

"T-thanks" she whispered and the boy smiled.

The two started walked back home and Eddie shouted out to her as he walked away

"Don't forget to ask out Bill! And let's all hang out tomorrow m'kay?" And Beverly gave a thumbs up in response.

Eddie walked back home smoking his last cigarette in that pack as he faded away in the darkness of Derry.
