Nyla's P.O.V
"Hello?"
"Nyla it's Clay." sounding distraught.
Worry falls over me."Clay what's wrong, are u ok?" Clay sobs into the phone."Clay?"
"Nyla dey got ky and me ain nah wah to do." Clay continue through sobs, her accent
getting thicker and I can hardly understand what she is saying "Wah can a do? A promised him."
"Calm down clay. I can not understand what u are saying."moving the phone from one ear to the other."your accent is a bit to thick."
"Dey... have... Kyle." Clay count the words out to me.
" Who have Kyle? Where are you?" My eye lids flutters as my brow knits together in confusion "What's going on?"
"De police!" Clay answers, raising her voice a bit.
"Your not making sense Clay." I adjust the phone to my ear, pacing about the kitchen floor "Why would the police just take him?"
"His mother came back and somebody kill her. Kyle was dere. Dere was blood every where even on de fuking walls. Kyle nah stop crying so a promise him a won't leave him Nyla." Clay rants, her tone slowly shifting from worry to slightly angry. "I promised him!"
"Oh My God!" I gasp. Fighting to make sense of what Clay had just said me. I fell silent trying to process.
"Nyla?" Clay's voice cracks trying to regain my attention since the phone went dead.
"Clay I am on my way." I end Clay's call and dial Judge Josy.
I explain the situation and ask if there is any thing she can do that will keep Kyle out of the system.
She said she will see what she can do and then she hung up. Knowing my mom, this is in very capable hands.
If there is any way possible Clay can help Kyle she will find it.
I am now in my home clothing just about to go to bed but non of that matters. I pull my shoes on not
caring how I look at this point. I grab my car keys just before rushing out the door.
I met Clay at the police station entrance, she is a mess. Her eyes are all red and puffy from crying. The tear stain
streaks on her cheeks glistening from the lights across the hall. I have never seen her like this before. she seem so....
Human and a part of me feel relieved about it.
Yes, I know it's bad to feel that way and I feel awful that I do. But Clay is always so bottled up and hard to read. She
hardly let any emotion surface at all. She need to cry, she need to let something out or her emotions will one day consume her.
"Clay every thing will be fine." I coo as I wrap my arms around her.
"how can u say dat?" Clay snap jerking her body away from me."Dey gon put him away, a got no legal claim to him."
The fear in her eyes are heart breaking and I hate it. Clay walks over to the parking lot and I follow closely behind.
"I called my mom." I semi yell, hoping it will give her something to hold on to. Clay stop walking and turn to face me as I continue. "She said that she will call me back and let me know if she can do any thing to prevent Kyle from going into the system."
