Partie trois

Danika's POV

Upon arriving at the dorm building, we all huddled inside since we were a little cold. We all arrived here in shorts and hoodies, so it was a little chilly outside. It's around nine thirty now and we all had gotten on the plane when it was warmer. The man had given us each a sheet of paper, indicating where we'd be bunking. Of course, the floors had two teams per floor.

Our floor was Canada, so we had the hockey team, speed skating team, and figure skating team since we were small enough to fit the three teams. There's more on the Canadian side for teams, they're on different floors, though. I followed Shelby upstairs while Toria kinda pondered and then followed, she was tired and we knew it.

The boys had followed us up too. We took the elevator, cramping into the small space and because we were in first, the boys were in front of us. It's not that they smelt horrible, it's just they probably have no idea where they're going. So Shelby told them which floor button to hit. They were chatty, while we just listened or talked quietly.

Exiting, Shelby led us down the hall and told the boys to go to the dorm number that was indicated on their sheet. They weren't in the same room as one another, we had more players obviously, and some might be here while others may not. We continued, and were at the far end of the building. It was quiet down here, I didn't hear any ruckus from the rooms next to us, meaning they were asleep or no one was there yet.

"Oh my god, we can sleep!" Toria called and threw her stuff by the door and ran to a bed. The room was rather big, and seeing as the room could sleep up to six people, we had three empty beds.

I didn't know if we were getting more girls that were joining the team or not. "Dibs top bunk!" I called.

Shelby nods plainly, and Toria had already gotten comfy in her bed. I could see the joyful eye roll from Shelby, and she smiled, and went to a bed. We had three sets of bunk beds. And if we wanted, we could each take a bunk and shove all our stuff underneath, at least until we know if there will be others coming.

For the night, we had kinda left all our stuff by the door. Shelby and I had gotten into our PJs and then headed to bed. None of us talked much, we were tired. Jet lag was kicking in now. I eventually fell asleep, and the quietness was relaxing, along with the pitch of the night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hearing banging on the door woke me up, when I didn't want to. I rolled over in my bed, facing the door, and rubbed my eyes as I looked around. I spotted Shelby, and that didn't surprise me. She was always the first asleep, and first one awake. "What time did you wake up at?" I asked her, now sitting up in my bed.
She shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know, seven fifteen, I guess,"
She was looking through her bags for something. Toria didn't seem to be awake yet, so Shelby walked over and woke her up. By tearing the blankets off the bed, Victoria probably was cold, since she slept in shorts and tee-shirt. I tried not to laugh, but couldn't hold myself to.
She mumbled a couple words, but then looked at Shelby and I, who stood next to the bed and waited. I wanted to make sure that she'd actually get up. "What was that bang for?"
"Oh, I forgot to tell ya, on the schedule it says that on practice and game days we're supposed to be up by nine,"
"Wait, it's nine?" Toria asked. I nod. "Then I'm going back to sleep,"
Shelby about threw the book at her, "Get up, we gotta eat, then head to the arena for our first team practice,"
After we all got dressed, and had our things, we headed downstairs to eat and after we walked to the arena down the road. I figured all our players should be here. Because if we were having a practice today, that meant the entire team had to be here.
The arena was newly built, and it was nice. Toria stared in awe at the table filled with an arrangement of food and drinks. We entered the locker room, to see that there was more boys in here than girls. The boys had all stopped doing what they were doing and glanced at us.
Shelby's eyes seem to have gone wide, wondering if we actually were changing in here, as she looked around. Toria and I were quiet. And so, we decided to casually head to our lockers. Our names were printed on tops of lockers, and since this was our locker room, we could keep everything here. I didn't see all our names together, which meant they had separated us throughout the crowd of young smelly boys, though, some looked cute.
I stood at my locker, taking my stuff out of my bag and placing them in my locker. My jerseys sat on the hooks, along with my shoulder pads while my hockey sticks sat inside leaning against the wall. Helmet, gloves,  tape, and water bottle sat on the top shelf while the bottom I had my bag and the rest was shoved in there.
"Hey," I heard. I was sitting on the bench tightening my shin pads. "I'm Cameron Bernard,"
"Danika LeSage," We shook hands and he started telling me where he was from, what position he played, and how cool it was to be here.
I glanced around the room, seeing that Shelby was across the room, looking like she was not really wanting to talk to anyone, but did because they spoke to her. And Toria, she was maybe the loudest one here and was so in to making friends. Seems to me she had been introduced to the two boys on either side of her. She was further down the bench while I had a guy on either side of me, though the one boy next to me was the last until the bench stopped.
The locker room seemed to have gotten louder and louder by the minute. As new folk introduced themselves to others, and people got comfortable with each other, it just became a party. It was good to know that everyone was getting along so well and early. I just wondered, we were really the only girls on this team? It's cool, for sure, but really? There's no other girls that wanted to come or had been scouted out?
I'm happy that at least three came, and two of them are my best friends. I don't know how this trip would've been without them. I do have fun on all trips I go on, with or without my best friends. But every time, something awesome happens. What awesome event will play out for us?
Soon enough, I had gotten to know Cameron pretty well, he was fifteen, like most of us were. He had dark brown layered hair and it fell over his forehead the odd time. He didn't seem like one to constantly fix his hair. He was nice, and smart, but I had no idea if he was the rambunctious kind.
"Yo, have you met Jayden and Riley?" Toria inquired, walking up to me. I shook my head, and she turned, pointing to the two teen males that stood by her locker. "They're pretty cool,"
Being on an all boys team means that we kinda have no choice but to be friends with only boys. And I don't mind that, and I'm sure the other two don't either. I mean, Shelby seems to having fun, making friends. "You should meet Cameron," I told Toria, she nods. "he's the brunette next to me,"
She about looked to the one side, but noticed the boy next to me had light brown hair with what looks like added blond highlights. "Hi, I'm Toria. Danika's friend,"
"Cameron... I assume you're friends with her too?" He asked, pointing to Shelby.
"Yeah, that's Shelby,"
And before we knew it, we were on the ice with our new coach and trainer, getting to know one another.
