Victoria's POV
Yesterday we had battled it out against Team USA and lost. It wasn't a tragic loss, though, we were pretty close in points. It's not like it was 6-0. I'd rather have 6-4, than have 6-0. It sounds better and we don't seem as unathletic as it seems. Team Canada entered the field yard in our matching track suits. We had planned on letting loose and having fun before our practice in four hours because we knew that Coach was going to make us work hard to get back up to the top. We have one shot left, and we might as well use it wisely.
"Look who it is," Luke spoke.
"Doesn't surprise me," Bryce added, putting a hand to his forehead as he blocked the sun from his eyes.
Cameron leaned against Thomas and nodded in agreement. "Some of them are actually pretty nice. Aren't they Jay and Shelby?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah..." The two trailed off, watching as they were all stretching in a group. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Let's go!" Daniel hollered, grabbing the football from Danika's hands and running to the far end of the field. The team had decided on playing football. Shelby likes the game, but gets pist off quite often. Danika said she likes it and so do I. It's just not a go-to kinda sport, ya know?
The rest of us ran after Daniel together in a group and passed by USA, who scoffed and shouted a couple things. Oliver stopped and laughed, turning around and walked towards them as he pointed his finger in the air a she shook his head, "Ohhh, no, ya don't,"
"Eh, Cowboy, what's ruffled your hat?" The cowboy from their team had asked. We all gathered behind him.
"Oliver, don't!" Danika hollered, standing her ground with her arms crossed.
"You want a black eye don't you?" Oliver taunted, with a wicked smile on his face. Some of us tried not to laugh, but got slapped by Alex who took his turn slapping everyone upside the head who laughed, even Shelby and I. Except not on the head, he hit our shoulders.
"Oliver, don't!" Danika repeated herself.
"Quiet down, Princess,"
"Princess!" She hollered, running at Jesse who simply laughed. Before she did though, Riley had ran after her and grabbed her before she could do anything. He picked her up with ease and walked back over to us, grabbing Oliver's shoulder and pulling him back too.
"We'll be going now," I replied and waved.
"Damn right you will," Potty mouth shouted and laughed.
"Jesse, stop," Their so called leader, Charlie Conway, spoke as he shook his head and held him back.
We all gathered at the other end of the field, discussing teams for football. This meant we'd have a team of seven and a team of eight. We didn't have a captain for our hockey team, so it was kind of difficult to have someone take the lead and decide who was on which team. We had to make them as fair as we could. It was going to be hard. Lots of us bawled our eyes out when we didn't get what we want.
We ended up doing the teams that we had randomly picked for the scrimmage at our first practice. The only problem, we didn't quite remember who was on which team. A little while later, we managed to figure out who was on which team. Thomas and Cameron had said that they were both together and knew that Danika and I were with them. So that was an easy four right there. From there, we had continued and ended up with our original teams. Standing in two split groups there was Kyler, Oliver, Alexander, Thomas, Danika, Cameron, and myself. The second team was Jayden, Daniel, Luke, Riley, Finnlay, Bryce, Liam, and Shelby.
"All right, let's play some ball!" Thomas shouts.
Not many of us knew how to play football. So I don't think it's going to be looking like a football game at all. It's more so going to look like a bunch of teenagers passing a ball and tackling one another to the ground. I don't see much playing getting done and if there is, then it'll be fifteen minutes of playing time and then fooling around after that. That's how I believe that it's going to go down.
We also decided to keep the scrimmage teams because we all were able to work together on those teams. Daniel and Luke weren't able to before, but now they're cool. I laugh seeing that Shelby's on a team with seven guys while I got Danika and five guys on my team. I didn't really care who was on my team. I'm a friendly person and will talk to anyone.
Starting, we all got in our two lines. Since the other team ahd eight people, we wanted to make it fair and play seven versus seven. So, Luke volunteered to sit out first. There was actually three of them who wanted to sit out first, but Luke won because he had ran off the field first and took a seat on the sideline. My team started off with ball.
Cameron decided to be QB while Thomas stood in front of him and passed the ball back. Once Cameron caught the ball, everyone ran at one another, pushing one another to prevent them from getting the ball. I tried pushing Liam out of the way, but there wasn't much going on since we were about the same in strength. Danika had somehow bolted away from the crowd and ran. She recieved the pass from Cameron and continued running.
Within seconds Finn had her on the ground and the ball was out of her hands. The game stopped and my team retook possession of the ball. "Woah," Riley said, laughing. "this game is fun!"
Most of us nod in agreement. Danika stands up when Finn had given her his hand. She walked over to Shelby and I. "Ding, round one,"
We chuckled and headed back to our teams and respected sides. The entire field was big enough to play football. It took only three quarters of the field to play. It'd give us enough room to run around, pass, catch, and tackle. We were about halfway now, and if my team keeps going at the pace we're going, we'll be crashing in to Team USA's workout session.
Cameron caught the ball and quickly threw it, seeing Kyler and Oliver further down the field. I got pushed to the ground by Bryce and he went on to help Alex shove Daniel.I glance over as I laid on the grass, watching Kyler and Oliver to see if they caught the ball. Shelby came running up from behind them. Just as Kyler was about to catch it, she hip checked him to the ground. He tumbled and rolled, hitting the ground and Oliver fell on top of him. Shelby caught the ball and ran towards us now, wanting to get to the other side.
She lasted a little while, considering she could run fast. Luke stood up and started cheering for her and his team. She got halfway when Thomas had ran over and touched her shoulder, making the play stop. I don't exactly know if you call that a play or not. I don't play, and nor do the others.
Shelby got in line with her teammates, and Bryce decided to sit out on the side lines since he wasn't interested in this game very much. Nor was Luke or Riley, but they still participated. Riley was now QB with Finn in front to pass him the ball. "Go long!" He called out. We now knew what they were doing. So my team made sure to cover everyone, and we mean everyone.
The ball got tossed back to Riley and he was motioning for his teammates to get running. He noticed Daniel, Shelby, and Jayden out in the field. He threw it to Jayden. Danika was right on his tail and she tackled him to the ground roughly. With the ball about to hit the ground, Daniel lunged for it and caught the ball. He threw it back to Alex who ran and scored a touchdown.
After a while of playing, we all took our seat in the grass. It was quite hot out today. It was way hotter here than it was back home. This place doesn't get snow, well, maybe they get a little snow. My point is, we get snow for half the year, maybe a little more. It does suck sometimes, but most of the time it's cool. We don't have super hot days like they do here, but I'd rather not have super hot days because it's all the better.
