“Aiyaah!” Yao exclaimed as he walked over to the group of people surrounding me.
“Yao!” I yelped when I saw him. Flinging myself at the man I wrapped my arms around him in a hug. He took a step back in surprise before letting out a defeated sigh and hugging me back.
“Yao, care to explain?” I turned around and saw the blonde man, Francis. Wriggling out of Yao's arms I ran back to Francis's side. I stood there, my hands gripping his arm. Yao looked shocked at this but didn't say anything.
“I found her. Well really Ivan did,” He explained, crossing his arms over his chest. “Her parents are dead.” A small gasp rippled through the room and my grip tightened on Francis's arm. He looked down and gave me a small smile before picking me up and setting me on his hip. People were doing this a lot today, good thing I'm kind of small for my age.
“Last night to be exact.” We all turned to find Ivan walking towards us. A few of the people took in sharp breaths when he stopped in front of Francis and I. Without a word he plucked me out of the blonde’s arms and took me into his own. I made a small protest but he didn't seem to notice. I watched as the room full of men all gave me looks of pity and sympathy. All except for one.
“Like, why did you bring her? I mean, like, I don't get the point. Why didn't you just leave her?” My eyes widened as I looked at a blonde haired man that was wearing a strange green outfit. Were they going to listen to him and throw me out? I didn't have anywhere to go.
“Because she's cute and all alone, aru!” Yao snapped at the man.
“Da. She does not have place to go.” I stared up at Ivan. He seemed to tense slightly and the temperature in the room dropped. Everyone started to shake, even Ivan was. Grabbing the scarf that was wrapped around my neck I reached up and tied it around his. The anger in his face that I hadn't realized before disappeared and was replaced with a look of mild shock. He glanced down at me and I smiled back.
“You looked cold, da?” I said, giggling as I tried saying the word that he had used before. Everyone stopped shaking also and stared at me. Ivan then returned my smile.
“Thank you.” I grinned as Ivan looked up at the group once more. “She is American.” He said the words plain and simple. Out of the corner of my eye I saw movement going on and a blonde haired man wearing a bomber jacket stumbled out of the crowd.
“Dude, for reals?” The man said as his eyes narrowed in on my face. I grabbed at Ivan’s scarf and shrunk into his chest. He didn’t seem to notice my sudden discomfort.
“Da. American.”
“You sure? She looks kind of French to me.” Francis perked up as he also examined my face.
“Nein, I do believe she is German.”
I remembered something my mom had told me about my nationalizes.
“Swedish.” I mumbled quietly. They all stopped talking. “And Canadian.”
“Score!” A whisper echoed through the room. Everyone looked around wildly trying to find where the voice had come from. Scrunching my eyes together I saw a man sitting in a chair holding what looked like a polar bear. Was he the one who had talked? Shaking my head I ignored the man.
“B-But I’m American.” I whispered shyly, my face heating up slightly. I could hear a few ‘aw’ s from the crowd which only made my blushing worse.
“She’s so cute!” A voice came from the crowd. A brown haired man with a strange curl sticking out of the side of his head emerged from the crowd. He had a huge grin on his face. “Can I hold her?” Ivan tightened his arms around me as he shot the man a glare. The brunette shrunk away with tears prickling his eyes. I gasped slightly as I wriggled around, trying to get out of his arms. I finally gave up when he wouldn’t let go of me.
“Germany!” The man whined, clinging to a tall blonde haired man’s jacket. “I’m scared.” The blonde looked irritated before smacking his companion on the head.
“Dummkopf! Why would you call me by my country name?” He yelled at the smaller man. I flinched slightly as my brain started to work slowly.
“Germany? As in the country?” I asked Ivan. He nodded his head solemnly as the room burst out into an uproar.
“I knew bad idea bringing girl to meeting.” Yao said in a tight voice. I was scared from the commotion going on.
“I won’t tell,” I promise with a small, half-hearted smile. “I’m really good at keeping secrets. I just don’t want to be all alone.” My smile was still on my face as tears started trickling down my face. Everyone stopped what they were doing one by one and turned towards me. “Please.” I whispered.
“Dudes…” It was the blonde with the bomber jacket from before. “She’s growing on me.”
“Same here.” Yao chimed in. Ivan nodded his head in response.
“Can we keep her?” The cheerful brunette with the strange curl asked. Germany let out an annoyed sigh.
“I suppose.”
