‘I suppose.’

Little did I know at the time how those two words spoken by a strange German man would seal my fate.

Once everyone was done fighting and trying to work out what would happen to me it was decided. I would live with Russia and China for the time being since I seemed to already have grown attached to them. Why had I not gone to live with my own country America? They wouldn’t tell me why but the second it was suggested Russia shot it down.

Time flew by and before I knew it a month had passed.

Racing down the hall way I flew into the bedroom that had an open door. I didn’t even slow down as I ran over to the bed and jumped on it.

“Ivan!” I yelled as I landed on the man’s stomach. He flinched slight but only rolled over. “Ivan.” I pouted again.

“Five more minutes, da?” He said in a sleepy voice. “Or do you want to die?”

I giggle at his threat; I knew he never meant it. “You wouldn’t hurt me.” I pointed out as I flopped down onto his body and hugged him tightly.

He let out a sigh before slowly sitting up and moving me off of him.  I gave him a peck on the cheek before smiling cheekily. “So what is it little one?” He asked

“Guess who’s coming to visit?” I chirped happily. He didn’t respond so I continued “Francis!”

“And why is he coming over? I do not remember saying he could.”

I crossed my arms over my chest. “But I said he could so he is.”

Something flashed across his face but it quickly disappeared. He reached his hand up and placed it on my head. “Если только вы не были настолько малы, и милые, я бы раздавить тебя.”

I looked up at him with wide eyes. “What did you say?” I asked curiously.

“Ah, it was nothing, da?” Tossing the blankets off of himself he stood up and stretched. Running around the bed I went to stand next to him. He looked down at me with a raised eyebrow. “Da?”

“Carry me.” I demanded, reaching my arms up towards him. He let out a low chuckle before reaching down a lifting me up. Placing me on his hip I furrowed my eyebrows together. “Why are you so tall?” I mumbled under my breath as he walked out of the bedroom.

“Because I am older than you.” He replied casually.

“It’s not fair.” I whined, resting my head against his shoulder. He didn’t respond after that as he made his way downstairs. Entering the kitchen I looked around for the person who was usually always here.

“Where’s Yao?” I asked as I continued to scan the room.

“He went back to his home for a while.” Ivan explained as he sat me down on the table.

I cocked my head to the side in confusion. “But isn’t this his home?”

“No, this is my home.” He said as he opened the fridge and pulled something out.

“But you two are married.” I stated matter of factly as I kicked my dangling legs back and forth over the side of the table.

He stopped what he was doing and turned to face me. I couldn’t read his expression which annoyed me. “We are both men, da? So we are not married. Although everything will become one with me someday.” He had a cheerful smile as he said the last part.

“What? But you’re my daddy now and Yao’s my mommy.”

“I’m not your father.” Ivan pointed out as he went back to doing whatever he was in the middle of. Covering my mouth with my hand I started breathing loudly in a deep voice.
