"I beg you for mercy please let me go." He pleaded and begged in front of her. He grabbed on to her foot, as she stood tall in front of him. People passed by them minding their own business, unaware that the poor old hobo that was crying was actually a young man begging for his life. The living couldn't see the very unseen. "Please, I never meant to betray you." He crouched down at her feet crying and begging. She kicked him away and he fell on the sidewalk in fright. Though he was a strong built man, she frightened him. She stood in front of him covered in shadow. Her face was hidden. She moved forward and held out her hand to him. He shakenly grabbed on to her hand in the slight hope that he will live. He had seen the others go before him and they haven't done anything close to what he has done. "I beg you for mercy please don't kill me. Please don't my angel."
In the dim light of the moon, one can make out her smile as she finally opened her claws and dug a hole right into the man's heart. She squeezed it back and forth, as she saw the colors draining out of the face of the man in front of her. His head tossed back as his eyes rolled in their sockets. He slowly let out a howl as a red light began to flow out of his body and enter the girl's mouth. He watched as not his life come to an end but his salvation. He will never see the doors of Heaven if that was even written for him but his soul has been claimed for hell all of the eternity. He had dared to cross a soul eater, and not just any soul eater, but Asin.
Two hours back: 125th street Subway Stationtrain New York:
"Do you think this would be an interested to her?" A man in a trench coat passed his bag to the man he came to meet. Their hands passed as swiftly as possible exchanging the bags. The other man didn't respond and made his way opposite the platform. The MTA intercom announced the arrival of the next train. The man in the trench coat got on the train that arrived without looking back at the other man. The purpose of their meeting was fulfilled. After a few stops, the man in the trench coat got off and made his way into his apartment. He knew what he held in that bag wasn't a great place to hide in his apartment, especially with her around. But he still kept hope she was unaware of the content on his bag. The man took out his keys and opened the doors to his apartment.
"Ivan, I didn't feel like cooking, so make yourself something if you are hungry" a girl called out from the living room. She was sitting on the couch with the TV on eating ramen. The man in the trench coat smiled as he unfastened the tie around his neck. He bent down and kissed the girl on the cheek. Only one thought was in his mind, this honeymoon phase will soon be over. Ivan walked into his room and closed the door. He removed the trench coat and tossed it on the bed. He placed the bag on the bed to open only to find his hands trembling. Ivan couldn't take it anymore he took out his flask and took a chug out of it.
The phone in the living room suddenly rings and Ivan drops the flask and the whiskey spills all over his shirt. "Fuck." Ivan curses under his breath. The receiver clicks on the other room and Ivan could hear the speaker loud and clear.
"Is Ivan home with the bag my lady?" The voice from the speaker asked.
"Yes," the phone is clicked shut and Ivan hears her heading to his room.
Ivan looked at his window and cursed under his breath. "If I get out of this alive the institute owes me big time." He opened his window and threw the bag down on the fire escape. "Sorry Asin, money speaks." Ivan calls out as he see her barge into the room. Ivan dropped down on the street, picked up the bag and ran. He was glad he still had his phone and dialed up his last number. "Pick up pick up." Ivan whispered as the phone rang. The phone went to voicemail and Ivan closed the phone shut.
"Going away so soon." Asin stood in front of him with a sly smile. "Your dealer, his dead. I finished him off before you got into the apartment. Asin gripped Ivan by the neck and pushed him on to a concrete wall of a building.
"Hey what are you guys doing?" A bystander asked as he passed the street across from them. Asin turned toward him and the man forgot why he came by to them.
"See when I am angry I forget to look at the details." Asin said as she snapped a finger to conceal them with another image. "That's better. Now give me the bag."
The bystander looked around confused, for a second he could have swear he saw a lady beating up a man, but not in front of him stood an empty parking lot. Asin's magic was enough to make the man believe he saw nothing. The man walked walked. Asin smiled, now she and her love were totally alone.
"Any last words, darling." Asin said as she leaned forward to plant her lips on his lips. She slid her hand on his chest, placing it over his hurt, then dung her nails through, no scream escaped Ivan's mouth, for his soul was ready to be stolen away. A red smokey light escaped Ivan's mouth and enterd inside of Asin.
Present:
Ivan, was dead there was nothing for her to do with his empty corpse. She tossed his corpse on the sidewalk and began to walk away. This was normal to her after all she lives to be the soul eater that is why she was reborn. "Screw the institute, but if this cost your life this may be worth my time." She picked up the black bag that Ivan was trying to save from her.
"Asin, you seem to show a mercy upon taking the soul of this man, don't tell me you actually loved him." Asin stopped at her track hearing the man's voice behind her. He was dressed in all black and stood behind her on top of a lamp post. Asin knew exactly who was behind her but she didn't care to stop and have a chat with him. "Asin you can tell this friend of yours did you really love him." He jumped from the lamp post almost landing on his feet on the sidewalk. He tried to grab her arm but was too slow because right then she jumped up and high kicked him right in the chest. In pain he fell to the ground. "What was that for mom!" He yelled at Asin as she began to fix herself.
"Don't call me mom, Alan! I am done being your mom now that you are a grim reaper like your father. I hold no parenting power on you so leave me alone!" Asin said as she began to walk away. Alan got up and dusted his black coat he watched his mom, or what used to be his mother walk away in silence.
"Fine, Asin. You had no right to take his soul, it was my job." Alan called behind her.
"Well I was hungry and I had a great dinner." Asin replied without turning back. She had what she had come for.
"Asin that bag holds what belongs to the institute, you have no right to meddle with greater powers at play." Alan appeared in front of Asin and grabbed on to the bag. He pulled on it but only to find himself thrown to the ground by Asin.
"Greater power my ass. The institute doesn't care about protecting us. We are better of running the world at our own terms."
"Gods weapon does not belong to a soul eater," Alan called out.
"Neither it belongs to the institute." With that, said Asin walked away.
Alan wasn't her only son he knew that for sure. He had heard often of tales that his mother had other children of her own but he knew it was best to let her go. She will continue to live even after he dies and his son takes his place. But Asin she had nowhere to go. She had walked this Earth for ages and the only reason she lets people go is because she doesn't want to hold onto the broken pieces that forged her.
Asin walked in silence and she knew her son had stopped following her. When she was finally sure he was gone she takes out a bag from under her blouse. This is what she had really wanted and why Ivan had to die in the first place God, why would he even care what happens in this world. Asin thought. Asin didn't give much dam about God or gods, when she was human she prayed to many. God never helped her while she was alive nor god helped her to be a soul eater. As far as she knows she was damned by the man that saved her from her pyre. To her, god was just a bedtime story. Opening up the bag she found a scroll inside. It was in a bad shape and she knew this must be the real thing. Opening the scroll, she found it to be blank map with unfamiliar directions.
"Don't tell me this is another goose chase." She mumbled under her breath. She held the map higher to see but it still seemed blank. She looked into the bag to see if there was something else. She found a tattered piece of paper with something scrolled on it. She tried to make out the symbols but nothing made sense. She tossed everything back into the bag and knew the only person that could help her was her ex-boyfriend Scientist Anwar Kashap.
