''Are you okay?''
The sudden voice startled me from my day-dreaming, causing me to sigh and lazily turn my glance at Lily as she read the newest newspapers on the couch, looking me under her glasses that hung lowly on her nose.
I didn't know how to respond. Was I okay? It was 8:30AM and I still couldn't shook off the scene from yesterday that happened late in the streets. My head was still sore from the fall and Lily had called the school to say I was going to skip first period, just to see if it was going to be worse or better. Nothing has changed. It was worse from all thinking and harassment but refused to show it to Lily. I didn't want to upset her. And no, I didn't tell her about last night. I just said I didn't feel good.
''Yeah, you don't have to ask me that every minute.'' I mumbled, slightly frowning.
''It's just,'' She trailed slowly. ''You seem ...distant. How's your head?''
Of course I was. I couldn't be anything but. I was not a same person as I was before - funny, playfull and irresistible. Sure, I couldn't be six forever but the part of me died inside since that night. People didn't recognize me anymore - hell even I didn't! I didn't need anyone's pitty, I was a big girl and I understood what life is. A big, ass mess.
''I'm fine.'' I said.
''Fine enough to go to school?'' She asked teasingly. I snorted.
''Yeah,''
She sighed heavily and stood up, placing a papers on the table and taking off her glasses. ''Then what are we waiting for?'' She exclaimed and tapped my thigh as she passed to get a car keys. I groaned in protest but listened anyway. I pulled my bag strap on my shoulder and exited the house. Once we sat in the seats, we drove away without single glance missing. In few minutes I was in the school ready to finish another painful day.
After closing my locker, just like the first time we met, Susy was leaning against the other one as I gasped at sudden glimpse. Her arms were linked together as she pursed her red lips. I sent her a glare and she smiled in apologize.
''You really need to stop doing that,''
''Sorry,'' She bite her lip. ''Where were you?''
''I wasn't feeling well but I'm good now,'' I said and rested my other half on the locker, watching students passing by.
She groaned, her eyes sad. ''I knew I shouldn't let you go home without a car. God!'' She whinned and threw her head back in annoyance, as she was blaming herself.
I chuckled and shook my wrist. ''It doesn't have to do anything with you so don't blame yourself, besides I'm okay now.'' I reassured her.
''Then what was it? I can hardly even remember me taking off my dress and turning into pajamas last night.'' She rolled her eyes.
I snorted quietly. ''You should've seen yourself, you were such a mess.'' I laughed as I remembered the way she talked and danced. Sassy Susy was the best.
''Don't,'' She raised her voice ''-even start.'' She said quietly this time.
I shook my head and laughed at her. Just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse, I spotted Justin and the Tony guy walking down the stairs. I gulped when Justin noticed me staring. At the corner of my eye I could saw Susy furrowing her eyebrows and moving her head where I was looking at. When she saw them, she straightened her posture and watched them with dirty look. When Justin didn't look away, I managed to curl my lips up and quickly drop them. He sighed and closed his eyes for a second before walking away - which reminded me I have an English class after lunch period -with him.
