Ok guys! I love all of this support and votes. Thank you all! A/N I hope this is what you're looking for!
I wake up and look at Aidan's smiling face. He smiles in his dreams. It's super cute. The fear landscapes are today. My only fear is that something new will come out that totally surprises me and I won't be able to face it. That it will take me too long and I'll fail and become factionless and my life will be over. Which is highly possible.
Other than that I'm really excited to do my fear landscape. It sounds like fun. I've never done it, but I really want to see what I'm afraid of. I'd like to know for the future and see how well I cope with facing my fears. Also, I want to see how many I will have.
As much as my goal is to come out number one, which I do, but I don't want to be killed because they can pinpoint I'm divergent. I don't know how they will be able to tell, but I'm sure they have a way.
My parents have warned me that I'm divergent. I can't let anyone know, not even Aidan or Kenna. They told me the leaders want to kill me. That I'm dangerous. But I don't understand. Why? Why am I dangerous because I think a certain way? My parents want answer anything I ask; they only say what's 'necessary.'
I silently slip out of Aidan's arms. I grab my undergarments, black pants, and long black sweater. I'm aiming to be comfortable, not stylish. My mind wanders to Aidan and his soft smile in his dreams. Was he dreaming about me?
No one else is awake yet, so I walk out to the chasm. I look around in awe at the small cracks and the rushing water. Because of my daydreaming, I slam head first into some person. I go falling to the ground quickly and let out a quiet shriek. Arms wrap around my waist an catch me. The boy above me smirks.
"Hello there," he smirks. He has brownish blond hair and pale gray eyes. He's super cute needless to say.
"Hi," I say staring into his eyes. I pulls me up and smiles at me.
"My name is Tristan," he says.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Makayla."
We take a seat on the rocks and I stare into the rushing water, like it will wash away all my problems. "So what's a pretty girl like you doing up so early?" Tristan questions. A small blush creeps on my cheeks. Aidan and I make a good team and are awesome friends and can tell each other anything, but he rarely calls me pretty or plans anything romantic.
"I couldn't really sleep," I say. "What about you?"
"Same I guess. It was a rough night in my dorm," Tristan responds. Oh yeah. He's a transfer.
"Oh I'm sorry," I say quietly. By the look on Tristan's face, I can tell he doesn't want to talk about it. "What faction are you from?" I questions softly.
"Candor," he says quietly. "But I was never a smart mouth like them and I would lie. Their way of life never wore off on me." He stops to smirk for a second. "But dauntless does."
I smile at him and he gives me back a smile that melts my heart. "What are you doing? Why are you hanging out with me?" I say softly, looking down at my feet. All I can think of is Aidan, and how this feels like betrayal.
"You seem like a nice person. You're smart, brave, and pretty. I've seen your ranks and seen you around here with your boyfriend and friends," Tristan answers.
He moves closer to me and I can tell that he thinks this is uncomfortable for me. "I'm sorry," he says.
"Right now, let's forget about it," I say. I move to him so that my head is resting on his shoulder. He hesitantly wraps an arm around my waist. "My boyfriend isn't here," I say to him. He moves even closer to me.
