I don't know why I have decided to do this, but I would like to throw my own pitch at this theory.
First off, I would like to say that I agree with only certain parts of the theory, such as the Ender Dragon being a tyrant and how enderman only attack when looked into the eyes because of self-sacrifice and being stared at by the most powerful being in the world. I would just like to expand on them.
But what ticked me off (which honestly started off when Dark, a friend of mine, noticed about how selective the information was) was how one little video clip of an enderman teleporting automatically made him think that they were just "running very fast".
To start this off, I would like to tell you this. I have noticed this "running really fast" thing. But what doesn't get noticed is how an enderman can possibly "run" through a wall without making a single mark on the wall. You would think that someone running really fast, as he has suggested, would just stop that person and really hurt him.
This theory here proves that any obstacle that gets in your way, if running at the speed of light, can be as devastating as four semi trucks being piled up on top of you.
Sure, the enderman isn't going to be that fast, but this is a human that we're talking about. An enderman is much more fragile, especially if the enderman can't even touch water without getting hurt, while a human can swim in it easily.
Now, speaking of the enderman's weakness to water, I had to ask "how does water hurt the enderman?" I got two answers for that.
The first one is lack of adaptation. Let me just talk about where they originated. They came from a world where the only sources of light are the Ender crystals and end rods. There is no such thing as water or fire there either, so of course the concept of either of them is foreign to them. And with no need to adapt, they are like the dodo bird, just they won't go extinct over some random dogs joining their island.
The second is that it is necessary for painless teleportion. Ever threw an ender pearl and teleported. It's hurts the player. Why? Because of the body's lack of ability to withstand either dismaterialization or such high speeds. Our bodies are made to protect the vital organs from harm, but, just like water to the enderman, teleportion is a foreign concept to us. But in order to make their body's adapt to this ability, they might need to have skin that can easily tear apart and come back together easily. Kinda like this jacket.
Being made of easily-torn material, no wonder they hate water. Water can be very painful as it is. Heck, all you need is a paper cut to understand this. And with the endermen so used to only getting so little heat from their natural habitat, water in room temperature to them could be like throwing a person into water at its boiling point.
Now, remember when I said that I wanted to expand on two subjects? Yep. The tyrant dragon and the eye problems.
First, let's go with the dragon. We have the what, who, where, and when. What we don't have is the why and how.
After a little thinking, I have one theory on this. The why is because the dragon wants to expand the End to the point where there is more space for endermen to take up, making a bigger army to end up taking over the world. How? Through the very blocks that they pick up in the overworld. I mean, why else would they pick up blocks? Sure, they may be curious and all, but if that was the only reason, with the dragon being a tyrant, wouldn't they be disallowed to even touch the block? And if so, why put them down in a different area? Maybe that's because of an enderman's taste as to what they feel would be the best block for the dragon. Maybe they want to take a few decorations and smuggle them into their own little place so they can admire their own bravery. I bet that's great for when you're in oppression. Now what the Ender Dragon does to the blocks, I have no clue, but I believe it makes a process to where the blocks turn into Endstone, just like biodegradable materials turn into compost, which can be seen as nutrient-rich dirt that came from bug feces.
And here's another thought. Why would they still attack you after you have liberated them? Maybe they have a new mindset to where they see that they have their own lives and you threatening them with your human eyes seems to remind them of how much they had to sacrifice, and it could feel like just another threat to them. After all, you are in their space.
Now that that part is taken care of, let's visit the eye problem, shall we?
I am a pretty old player. Five years, really. And before this theory came to light, I have always thought of it as "contact sensitivity".
Picture this. You are just minding your own business when you hear that a powerful alien has awoken in your world. And if you have to look down at it, you would feel probably feel threatened by it.
This may be the case for the enderman. And with threat come fear. There are three ways to react to fear: fight, flight, and freeze. Now, I have never seen an enderman take flight when looked into the eyes, but I have seen the other two. Everyone has seen the fight, but I know how to get them to just stand there and shake. It was a modded survival, and I had npcs to attack an enderman. To make sure they stayed alive, I looked it into the eyes (because I'm a cheater that way) and it just froze there, shaking as if it didn't know what to do. Here, I believe the enderman was just shocked by the contact.
Endermen are a lot like us. All you have to do is look up fights and you'll find ones started off by the stupidest ideas, such as a woman saying that a woman's pancakes were fine as she was asking for some syrup (this actually has happened). It's just like them, politics overpowering the individual ideals and needs, just like modern-day communism or medieval monarchy. And you are their hero.
