Jake's POV

I see my dad's car as I pull into the garage. I put the keys on the key rack and walk inside. "Look who finally showed up" my dad sneers at me. I ignore him and walk by toward the stairs. "Hey, I'm talking to you. Where the hell were you?!" He raises his voice. Here we go. "What do you mean, look who finally showed up?!" I raise my voice. "Don't start with me Jake!" My dad slams the remote on the table. "Start? Oh I haven't begun. You don't even have the decency to show up for dinner! You just love sleeping around with other women. You don't care about mom or me or even Charlie! You are a selfish bastard!" I screen at him and my mom runs down the stairs and my brother follows. My dad lunges at me and pushes me against the wall and I stumble to he floor as he kicks me in the stomach. "Stop!" I hear Charlie yell. "Daniel stop! Please!" I my mom pleads and he takes a swing at my face and hits me square in the eye but I take a swing back and hit him in the mouth. Charlie grabs my dad back and my dad swings around and pushes Charlie away. Charlie stumbles to the couch and my dad storms off out the front door slamming it. "Jake! Are you okay?!" My mom yells running toward me. my hearing is fuzzy and my sight is burry. "Jake?" Charlie questions. "I-I'm fine." I say as I try to lean up. "Get some ice, Charlie." My mom says as she helps me to sit up. I could have fought back. I'm a wimp. I don't care if I got hurt. He needed to know how much pain he causes this family! He's probably off at some girls house right now or he's at the bar getting drunk. Selfish asshole.

"Do you need help upstairs?" My brother asks. "No, I'll be fine." I say walking up stairs with the ice on my eye. I walk into my room and collapse on the bed. I'm sure glad I have a caring dad. I think to myself as I throw the ice at the wall.

Katie's POV

"Tyler?! Come on Jake is here!" I yell. "I'm right here. Stop yelling." My brother replies. "Mom we are leaving." I yell toward the kitchen. "Okay you guys have a nice day." My mom says a she gives us a hug. We walk out to jakes car and get in. "Hey" Jake greets. "Hi." I smile. "Hi Jake" my brother smirks. I laugh and Jake drives off. "Where does your brother go to school at?" Jake asks "oh it's down the street from our school" I reply "okay." He says quietly. Why is he being so quiet. We stop at my brothers school and Tyler gets out "see you after school" I say. "Bye guys" Tyler says. Jake drives off. He hasn't even looked at me. "Jake?" I ask as keeping his eyes straight ahead. "Hmm?" "Are you okay?" I ask "I'm fine" he says bluntly. I stay quiet. He pulls into a parking spot and turns off the car. He doesn't make a move to get out. "Do you wanna hang out?" Jake asks. "After school?" I ask. "No, like now, right now. No school just us for today." Jake asks. Just Jake and I hanging out? No school? I think something is wrong "Uhm.. Yeah that sounds fun lets go." I reply. Jake starts the car and starts driving. "Is there something wrong Jake? You haven't even looked at me since last night." I question. "I uh..." He says speechless. Looks down and puts the car in drive. My don't know where we're going.

It's been about 45 minutes. We haven't said a word. "Jake? Where are we going?" I ask "you'll see when we get there" Jake explains. I stay quiet and look out the window. We finally pull up to a house. It's a big house, bigger than his house. "we're here." Jake says parking the car. "Jake, what's wrong? I'm not getting out until you tell me" I insist. Jake looks at me. oh my god, he has a black eye and his cheek is bruised. "Jake what happened?!" I ask

"My...dad" he says hesitantly. "What? Your dad did this?" I ask. "Yeah, I uh when I got home last night my dad started a fight with me. He said something's and I said something's and he pushed me and I fell to the ground, he took a couple swings and succeeded. I took one and hooked his jaw. He stormed out of the house." Jake explained. "Wow, I'm sorry... I feel if I just had my mom take me home you wouldn't have gotten in a fight." I apologize. "Nope, it would have happened. Let's go inside." He changes the subject.
