Three Painfully Awkward and Bankai Training Filled Weeks Later...

Miyuki

I finally memorized the entire maze. The sun was just rising as Daiyamondo Shimo summoned her icy maze. Once it was completely built, I ran forward. Running around the twists and turns of the maze, I finally reached the center. In the middle, as if on a pedestal, sat one of the most beautiful zanpakutos I've ever seen. It looked a lot like my shikai, with its glistening protruding ice blades, except the hilt was even longer, making the whole zanpakuto more like a staff than a sword.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" I spun around to see Daiyamondo Shimo standing behind me, my sword in her hands. I grabbed the sword just in time to block her attack. The sound our swords clashing resonated off of the icy walls.

Kisami

'Just hurry up already!' I thought. The stress of keeping this icy maze together was driving me to insanity. I was at the point where even my hollow mask wouldn't stay on for long.

Miyuki

Daiyamondo Shimo gasped as my sword drove through her abdomen.

“I guess… you’ve won.. Congratulations, Miyuki… Just don’t forget this name: Daiyamondo Shimo Chifuyu.” She said between breaths. The icy maze dissipated. I turned to Kisami, and we both sat there panting for a couple minutes. I then remembered something.

“Crap! We have to get to the graduation!” I exclaimed. Reluctantly, both Kisami and I stood up and headed over to the Shinigami Academy. On our way, I remembered my graduation.

(Flashback)

"She shall be the Third Seat of Squad 10." Head Captain Yamamoto said. I was in the Head Captain’s Assembly Hall, during my own private graduation. Since I had finished my training 3 months early, I was allowed to graduate early. I stood before Head Captain Yamamoto, wearing my official Soul Reaper Shihakushō for the first time.

"Thank you, Head Captain Yamamoto." I replied.

(Present)

Kisami

On our way to the Shinigami Academy,  I flashbacked to my own graduation.

(Flashback)

I pulled my hair into my ponytail and put on my official soul reaper Shihakusho for the first time.

‘You can do this Kisami. Just hope for Squad 5 with Lieutenant Aizen,’ I told myself, and smiled. I hurriedly walked out to the Graduation Hall, and stood in my spot among the tall graduates.

“I still can’t believe that SHE is graduating with us,” I heard a cruel voice snarl. I kept my composure. I had earned this. I was above whoever had said that. It only took me three years to complete a curriculum that traditionally took six years, after all. I tuned out most of the graduation speech until I heard my name called by the Head Captain.

“Kisami Matsumoto, the youngest person to ever graduate from the Shinigami Academy shall be placed in Squad 10 as Third Seat.” There was a roar of silence. I bowed and hurried off.

Of course, it had only taken me three months to surpass my Lieutenant, and then three months more to become Captain of Squad 10.
