Torment at its finest.
Here, I was just here, hiking some random mountain. I regret having Crai as my mentor, I regret even accepting her as a mentor. I should've just contacted my old track-mates, they would be better than her. But regret was regret and it was already too late for me to go back. If only I could turn back time...
"Yo, fish-face, you done?" Jeered the little punk as she asked me. Via walkie-talkie. "No, you little sonovabitch." The little insult did nothing to her, she only laughed. I knew endurance was endurance and I thought she was going to walk me some extra miles but seriously? Hiking a mountain?
It was a mistake to think everything would go normally with this kid. Jack was busy with Mark (they're still in the process of being friends with each other) and they planned to frolic in the sausage fields together. Nah, just kidding. They were having a charity fiesta for animal shelters. Even if they're assholes at (most of the) times, they're still humans with huge hearts. Jack told me he'd be back in a few weeks because you know, they're people with actual lives.
Unlike me and Crai.
"Hey, (Y/N)! Close yet?" Speak of the devil. I nodded before realizing she couldn't see me so I gave a curt 'yes' as a response. "Haven't stopped yet, haven't stopped now!" I remarked as I continued my hike. The race was getting closer with each passing day and I had to redeem myself as a track star for being a lazyass. "Good! 'Cause it's a shocker if you haven't gotten close, you started two hours ago! With some stops."
"Oh wow, you kept track of me?" I asked, arching a brow even if she couldn't see it. "Yeah, I did and still do. Can't afford you losing, now can we?"I could definitely hear the smirk in her voice. "Okay, okay, but you owe me food!" I gave a snarky response, a smirk curled at my lips. "Pft! Oh come on, (Y/N)! I'm a poor kid!" She whined which, to be honest, made me laugh. "I'll get you a date with my brother." I wiggled my eyebrows. Crai haven't met them but they were much older than her; obviously.
"How about all of them?"
"Crai!" She was younger than me but she was like one of those girls influenced by the world around them. Suggestive and flirtatious. Do they mean the same? I have no fucks to give about that right now. I continued to climb and climb. An hour later, I finally arrived. "Holy fuck," I sighed and collapsed to the ground, cushioning my face with my arm. "Great job, an hour late, but that should wake up your leg muscles! Now, level 3."
"FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!" I cried out and slammed my dominant fist onto the dirt.
"Okay, okay, that's enough training. Just do some regular jogs and sprints tomorrow."
"That's better." I lifted my face off the ground and met her gaze. She was smiling, and it wasn't a typical smirk or anything insidious, it was a soft smile. Was she proud of me?
"Can we go home now?"
I nodded, and she helped me up. "My legs are killing me, Crai, can you drive?" I asked her. She shot me a look and sighed, "I might be a little screw-loose, but I'm sane enough not to drive when I don't need to." I groaned. Looks like I have to drive, and my legs weren't going to let me live. I walked down the footpath with the girl to my car and turned on the ignition, Crai sitting in the front passenger seat. We drove back from wherever the hell we went and back to our sweet, sweet home in Washington. During the drive, I couldn't help but to occasionally steal glances at Crai, who was asleep by then. Poor kid, I still haven't got her name. I've so many questions about her, but she doesn't seem to share much.
I mean, just a few days ago, I found pills underneath her bed.
I don't know what that meant, but I hope she's okay. The drive was silent, I was only occupied by my thoughts and not the usual chat I'd share with the younger girl. Our car pulled up in the driveway and I glanced at Crai. I sighed and stepped out, walking over to her side and opened the door. Hesitation washed over me, does she even like me touching her?
I wish I didn't care so much about that, but I do. "(Y/N)?" I turned over to see Ryan, my neighbor. He's a YouTuber too, but busy with things lately. So we didn't hang or anything. "Hey, Ryan." I smiled. "Do you need help with her?" I wanted to say no, but I found myself nodding. "Alright, here we go." Ryan gently picked her from her seat and carried her into the house. We went to her room and he laid her down, gentle as he didn't want to even cause a stir. "She's your daughter?"
That showed how much we spend time with each other. He didn't even know. And judging by how young Crai is, and how he knew I don't have any sisters, I nodded. "You can say that."
"Well, if you need help, you can ask me. I heard Jack's out of town."
"Yeah, for now." I showed him to the front door and smiled, "Thanks, Ryan." A soft smile was present as I thanked him. "No problem, (Y/N). Have a good one." I nodded at him and closed the door, locking it.
Today was tiring. I deserved a nap.
