(Y/n) put her bike in the garage and walked into her kitchen through the door that connected the two rooms. Her house was quiet as usual and she spotted a pink post-it note on top of the counter with her step-mother's handwriting covering most of it.

(N/n),

We've been called for another trip to report on in London, I'm sorry that this came up on the week of your birthday, but I promise that we'll be home again next week with birthday presents from here. There's money for food and other necessities clipped to this note, please don't waste it.

~Mom

Yet again (Y/n) would be left alone, now not even having school to keep her occupied. This woman even had the nerve to write that she was her mother on that note, her mother was dead and that bitch wasn't going to replace her anytime soon. Of course, her dad went with her because she's "too helpless" on her own, maybe his 13-year-old daughter would be too helpless if she had gone missing like half of the kids in this town. She sighed, maybe the Barrons would help her.

She ran to her room and scanned through her closet for something cute, but she would allow getting dirty. She grabbed a solid black tank top and denim shorts with her old converse sneakers. She kept her eye on the clock and put her hair in a braid, rushing out again on her bike after snatching some of the money. She rode to Richie's house, a place she hasn't been to except for the two times she was forced to work on a project with after hours, and he was waiting on the front lawn for her. "You cleaned up well," he took off and talked to her as they went to what she assumed was Eddie's house. She glanced at him trying to be subtle as he looked her up and down.

"Need to look good for the sewer rats, right?"

"You sure you weren't doing it for me? We all know what happens when we talk in math," he cleared his throat and started talking in a high pitched voice that was meant to be her, "Oh Richie, you're so smart and handsome! Why can't I draw parabolas as well as you?" (Y/n) rolled her eyes.

"If that's what you want to think," the both pulled into Eddie's driveway Stan, Eddie, and Bill were all waiting.

"It took you long enough. What were you guys doing?" Eddie hopped on his bike along with the rest of them, moving forward in the direction of the Barrons.

"Oh, we were making out," Richie said loudly and (Y/n) witnessed Stan glare at him for a moment before riding slightly closer to her.

"Are you sure you're remembering that right or you were just hallucinating your pillow as someone else again?" Stan spoke up as Richie gasped dramatically.

They all dropped their bikes and walked down the rocky hill that leads to the Barrons, Stan pointing out all of the plants that were poison ivy (None of them actually were) and Eddie having a panic-induced asthma attack because of it, basically breathing through his inhaler and diving out of the way of every leaf. All standing in front of the entrance, Bill and Richie went in first. The stench was unbearable and Stan, (Y/n), and Eddie all stayed outside of it. "You guys coming in or what?"

"No way, that's grey water." Eddie sounded panicked once again, this seemed like it was a usual thing.

"What the hell is grey water?" Richie sighed.

"It's basically piss and shit, so I'm just telling you that you're walking around in hundreds of gallons of Derry pee."

Richie put the edge of the stick he was holding into the water and smelled it, "Doesn't smell this caca to me, senior."

"You're so fcuking disgusting." (Y/n) laughed a bit at the "old married couple" fight that the two were having. She noticed Bill continuously going further alone and decided to walk in and be with him just in case. "Now you're going in?" Eddie sighed at her actions as she went past Richie. Bill's flashlight lit up small areas of the ground and revealed a single shoe sitting there. They shared a look and she picked it up.

"Hey, g-guys check this out." They all directed their attention to the two. "Georgie wore galoshes-"

"It's Betty Ripsom's" (Y/n) said to the rest of the group, "She's probably still in here, we have to look for her."

"No!" Eddie yelled, "No offense Bill, but I don't want to end up like... I don't want to go missing too."

"Yeah," Stanley pitched it, still from outside, "It's summer, we're supposed to be having fun and this is not fun, it's scary and disgusting."

"Stan-" (Y/n) was cut off by a boy who looked like he was just attacked fell into the water behind the boys outside.

"Holy shit, what happened to you?" Richie yelled, leaving the sewer as well as Bill and (Y/n). They all surrounded the boy, who had cuts and bruises everywhere.

"We have to get him help, the pharmacy's close right?" Stanley asked Eddie, who nodded. They carried him up the hill and returned to their bikes and on their way to the pharmacy to fix him up.

Stan, Bill, and Eddie went inside and left Richie and (Y/n) with the boy. "I'm glad I got to meet you before you died."

"Richie! Sorry about him, I'm (Y/n)." She smiled sweetly at the boy.

"I'm Ben. So, what were you guys doing in the sewers?" She glanced at Richie.

"Uh... We were on a..." He was speechless, surprisingly unable to come up with a lie, "On a Scavenger hunt." (Y/n) stifled a laugh and nodded her head.

"Okay then..." The boys saved another awkward moment by rushing out with handfuls of medical supplies, Eddie going in and fixing him as best as he could.

Once Eddie was finished, Bill talked about going to the Quarry tomorrow and everyone agreed on going. Everyone was about to split and hopped back on their bikes except for Ben, who didn't have his. (Y/n) jumped off, "Take my bike home, you need it more than I do." She pushed it over and Ben was a bit reluctant to take it.

"She'll ride with me, we live down the street from each other." Stan allowed (Y/n) to get on behind him and she wrapped her arms around his waist, Ben now getting on her bike. Stan was extremely proud of himself because of this sudden burst of courage to ask a girl to ride with him, Richie looked at him and wiggled his eyebrows. They all headed back to their homes once again.
