Mr. Uris was the first one to speak up, directing his question to the boys, "How's school going so far?"
"Very good, sir," Eddie quickly shouted before shoving an entire forkload of food into his mouth to avoid conversation. Stan's dad was never the best person to talk to when you aren't a perfect Jewish person. It wasn't like he constantly tried to convert you, but he always sounded like you were below him, which isn't much of a difference from most of the adults in Derry. They always wondered how such a sweet boy like Stan could have him as a father.
"I know a few girls that go to our synagogue that would be perfect for you boys, especially Stanley," His aunt started, facing more to his parents than Stan or the boys themselves. (Y/n) shifted uncomfortably in her seat and looked up at Stan. He noticed, softly grabbing her hand under the table so that nobody else could see. His aunt continued talking about these potential girls for him, his grip tightening the more she spit out words.
"What if I don't want to be with a Jewish girl?" He finally broke, slamming his fork on his plate. Richie smirked, noticing their hands under the table and seeing the horrified expressions on his family member's faces. Mr. Uris gently placed his utensils on his place and looked at his son with a passive-aggressive stare.
"Stanley, this is not the time. Please don't embarrass yourself in front of your friends and family." His constant monotone voice seemed to fuel Stan's anger and resent, tightening his grip unintentionally and causing (Y/n) to shake it a little and loosen it.
"You're only afraid that I will embarrass you! You don't care about me at all! If you gave two shits about me and my life, then you'd stop trying to control everything I do!" He stood up, "Why don't you call me when you actually start to acknowledge how I feel about things for once?" He pushed his chair out and pulled (Y/n) out the door along with him, leaving Richie and Eddie alone in there.
You could cut the tension in that room with a knife, everyone trying to process what had just happened. "So, uh, these girls...they hot?" Richie smirked at Stan's aunt, her look of disgust turning to him. Eddie kept shifting his eyes to everyone at the table to see what would happen and if the best possible way to leave was to just bolt out.
Stan walked next to (Y/n), they had gotten pretty far from his house and were nearing the barrons. "Here's where it all started," she hopped on the rocks in the stream, trying not to get wet or fall. He grew a small smile and followed her, right into the wide opening of the sewers. "I think it's pretty safe now," She peered over at him before walking into the greywater.
"Are you really sure about this?" He called from just outside the pipe, seeing her get darker as she traveled further away from the setting sun's light and into the tunnel. She paused and turned to face him.
"Do you really want to go back home after that or risk getting dirty?" (Y/n) smiled as he rolled his eyes and walked in to be right next to her. They traveled deep into the sewers, without fear this time, but they should've been afraid. Footsteps nearby were heard, they seemed to be getting closer to the two.
"Shit. Why would someone else be here?" Stan pondered, reaching on the ground and pulling a flashlight out, turning it on. He grabbed her hand and they walked toward the sounds. "Hello?" He called out, continuing to listen and follow where they could be coming from.
The steps now were behind them and they spun around, pointing the flashlight to reveal a single red balloon floating towards them. They glanced at each other and then back at the balloon.
It popped and behind it was the familiar figure, back from the supposed dead, the clown. "Back for more?" It laughed as they screamed and stumbled to run away. A gate that wasn't there before now blocked them from exiting, fear returning as they face what caused so much trauma.

The lunch table at school the next day had two seats empty, leaving the losers to wonder why both Stan and (Y/n) weren't at school. Eddie and Richie went on and on about the dinner party and how Stan finally stood up to his parents, not to mention that Richie is now hated by his entire family.
"You guys want to go to the arcade?" Richie asked when they were all out of school and walking out of the building. There were nods of approval and they headed in that direction.
Eddie and Richie were up on street fighter, Eds obviously losing because of the lack of training he did. Bill and Beverly tried paperboy and got angry every time it would "glitch" and the paper wouldn't properly go to their house. Mike and Ben wandered around to try and find a game that they could be good at, considering the fact that neither of them really went to the arcade often.
They reached the cashier and saw two familiar faces on off-white pieces of paper in the middle of the event bulletin board. They both ripped them off of the board and ran to the other losers, whose games were conveniently next to each other. "Guys," Mike yelled to the four, getting their attention when they held up the flyers, "I think it's back."
